Honda must be kicking themselves
Brawn GP scores 1-2 in Australia
It shouldn’t come as a surprise really, Ross Brawn is known for his ability to come up with really good chassis design, after all he gave Ferrari all their Schumi titles. I guess Honda should have hung around a bit more, eh?
But even so, it is impressive for a new team to score one-two on their first outing. Ross Brawn must have given a fantastic pep talk and convinced the team that they have found the best design under the new rule regime.
If this trend continues, Jenson Button will finally get his just desserts for all the years that he has put in Formula One.
The Briton led the race one lap ahead of the pack and his teammate Rubens Barrichello.
It is unique that a team can comand such a huge lead during the first race, especially when they are working with a new set of rules.
I do wonder if the other team wll lodge protests against Brawn and whether the stewards wold take a really close look at their white and green cars.
It’s not that I am suggesting that they may have broken the rules but maybe their design has pushed beyond the envelope.
Anyway, congrats to Button and Barichello and Jarno Trulli and Toyota for their podium.
It’s going to be a really exciting year, I can feel it in my bones. If not exciting racing, exciting controversy
