PROTON RECALLS SAVVY TO ADDRESS POSSIBLE

Below is their full Media Release MEDIA RELEASE In line with PROTON’s continuing commitment to quality, regular random checks are conducted on PROTON cars as part of its i.Care programme. The results from the most recent inspection brought to attention the possibility of water entry into the rear wheel-bearing which could lead to a malfunction of the affected components. PROTON’s Managing Director Dato’ Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said, “The safety and satisfaction of our customers is a primary concern. As a precautionary measure, we are recalling all Savvy’s for inspection and repair. We do apologise to all the Savvy owners for any inconvenience”.The recall will affect a total of 34,000 Savvy cars and PROTON will conduct the necessary checks and replacements at no cost to the customer. All Savvy owners are advised to take their cars to the nearest PROTON EDAR or EON service branches for an inspection. This recall is purely a precautionary measure as the convenience and safety of its customers is PROTON’s highest priority.Customers are therefore encouraged to immediately contact the nearest Proton Edar or EON service branch for an appointment to have their cars inspected.As an alternative, please call PROTON i-Care at 1-300-880-888. Recall 34k & parts available only 2k. How to solve the problem?
Seems like Proton’s only willing to recall for major faults which could affect one’s life & death. Otherwise, no recall for many other minor faults like failed power windows, switches, buttons which fail to stay in its place, etc.
last i checked, toyota, honda, GM, volvo. hyundai, audi..etc. also did recalls for major faults which could affect one’s life & death…

guys, the defect does not affect all cars, they will check and see of a particular seal has been damaged and is letting water in,
A recall is a recall, even Mercedes andBMW recall cars, don’t tell the world that you are wet behind the ears
I just heard Toyota is in the process of recalling most vehicles as a result of gas pedal malfunctions . My sister drives one, should the car be used before it’s replaced?
savvy car amt problem: auto gear indicator light on. failed changing gear and jump to N . cause of windscreen wiper rain or water can go throught to engine and shock the gear box wire.
savvy car amt problem: problems finding drive, jumping from drive to manual, garage unable to find fault, car sent to Bristol. Proton stripped both gear boxes, fault not found. Changed micro switch. Told Fault in wiring loom. It has takien a month to find! Could this tie in with b314’s comment? (April 21 2010).
Purchasing this car from new we had a problem finding drive to leave the dealership.
