Honda Malaysia Launches All-New Honda Stream
Kuala Lumpur, 21 November 2007 – Honda Malaysia launched the much-awaited Honda Stream today at a lavish ceremony held at the Saloma Cafe in busy Jalan Ampang. This Honda Stream is the second generation of the 7-Seater MPV, first launched five years ago. Introduced in Japan more than a year ago, it is finally here, and is available at Honda showrooms nationwide with immediate effect.
At the launch, Mr. Atsushi Fujimoto, Honda Malaysia Managing Director and CEO thanked loyal customers for their interest and patience in waiting for the new Stream to arrive, adding “At Honda we pride ourselves in providing our customers with products and services of the highest quality at reasonable prices. As such, customers are assured of the best quality and value when they purchase the All-New Stream from authorized Honda Dealers, which come with a 3-year warranty and free maintenance for the first six months. Customers who purchase from authorized Honda dealers are also entitled to a 15% off on All-New Stream parts throughout the sales period. Besides, Modulo accessories will be made available at all authorized dealers.”
The Honda Stream comes equipped with the same ‘Drive-by-wire’ 1.8 litre SOHC, 140 PS, 174Nm torque, engine that powers the Honda Civic 1.8, and a 5-speed automatic gearbox. Fifth gear is an ‘overdrive’ ratio for fuel economy reasons. The new Stream is also 10 kilograms lighter than the outgoing model.
Suspension is similar to the Civic, being MacPherson struts in the front and wishbones at the rear. Brakes are discs all round, with the front ones being ventilated. ABS, driver and front passenger airbags are standard. The steering wheel is adjustable for height and reach. The gear select lever is dash-mounted, similar to that of the Odyssey.
Inside, there are three rows of seats, with the typical split and folding abilities to make it a very versatile vehicle. Climate control air conditioning, complemented by upper vents will keep driver and passengers cool.
Overall, in terms of looks, the new Stream looks better than the outgoing model, being a little more aggressive and contemporary. Lower and longer, the Stream offers more interior space in addition to looking sleeker.
Price on-the-road with insurance is very reasonable, at RM149,800, and Honda plans to sell 600 units for the coming year.
