The Great Edaran Tan Chong SHIFT_ With the New Latio
Kuala Lumpur, 22nd May 2007 –Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) today announced the introduction of Nissan’s global SHIFT_ philosophy to Malaysia, signifying its intention to do a paradigm shift in its business to create value for customers.
The Nissan SHIFT_ has been implemented in many markets, and its focus is on continually improving products, service and business operations with a focus on the customer.
“The power of a single word, SHIFT_, is our promise to look at the world from a fresh perspective, to challenge the status quo and to create new possibilities.” explained Mr. Thierry Viadieu, Corporate Vice President, General Overseas Markets of Nissan Motor Company Ltd.
“For our customers in Malaysia, this means they can look forward to having products and service quality standards that live up to the Nissan brand promise of enriching peoples’ lives,” he continued.
To kick-start SHIFT_ in Malaysia, ETCM unveiled the all-new Nissan Latio sedan and hatchback, which will be launched in Malaysia from late June 2007.
“The new Nissan Latio offers the characteristics of a luxury-class sedan with the price and size of a compact. Both the sedan and hatchback will cater to different customers’ needs but both models offer class-leading interior comfort and roominess. The Latio’s interior is over 6.0 feet long – the best in its vehicle class – and the materials used and high quality interior finishing give the Latio a quality level not commonly found in vehicles of this segment,” said Mr Toshimitsu Nose, Vice President of Product Planning of Nissan Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.
Innovative Latio features include extensive use of soft interior materials and a high-quality feel that exceeds the class standard. Latio is powered by a choice of Nissan’s advanced all aluminium MR-series 1.8-litre or refined HR-series 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engines boasting brisk driving performance with exceptional fuel economy.
ETCM has also invested RM230 million to build a new plant in Serendah to improve vehicle assembling operations to support the introduction of new Nissan models in Malaysia. This plant will utilize the latest manufacturing technology under the Nissan Production Way, ensuring superior standards that are in line with Nissan’s quality standards regardless of where the models are manufactured.
ETCM also emphasized its intention to build the Nissan brand in Malaysia through progressive implementation of the Nissan Sales and Service Way (NSSW), by establishing best practice procedures and set performance targets for every step of the sales and service process.
Nissan will support the local efforts with induction training on the new NSSW standards, along with new model sales and service training, service management training and support for uniform signage and facilities design.
Through SHIFT_ customers will feel the change in every part of the company, from the customer-friendly showrooms and service centres, to better-trained employees, excellent after-sales service and new products that are well-designed and equipped with the latest technological features.
“With SHIFT_, we expect customers to demand more from ETCM in terms of products and at the same time we are committed to deliver quality service.” said Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng, Executive Director of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd.
”Everything we touch we shift. And everything we shift we try to make better and uniquely Nissan. Never has this statement been more on target as we re-energize our efforts in Malaysia.”
