Audi Q7 Officially Launched in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, September 2006 – The Audi Q7, the luxury 7-seater 4WD SUV which made its debut at the 2005 Frankfurt Motorshow, finally made a showing on Malaysian soil, launched on 8th September by Euromobil Sdn Bhd, the local importers and distributors of the Audi brand.
“Since its debut at the Frankfurt Motorshow 2005, the Audi Q7 has created waves around the world among customers and media alike. In keeping with customer demand, we are pleased to provide customers with a first glimpse of the Audi Q7 here in Malaysia,” said Datuk Syed Hisham Syed Wazir, Chairman of Euromobil Sdn Bhd.
“This car will certainly appeal to a niche group of customers who value exclusive character and class. They attach importance to performance and a high degree of mobility both on-road and off-road, and are enthusiastic about striking a balance between beautiful design and a high standard of safety,” he added.
In our review of this machine earlier, we found it to be excellent, and the fact that it is a full 7-seater makes it a great family vehicle. Size-wise, it is longer than the Porsche Cayenne and the VW Touareg. In fact, the Q7 is built on an extended Touareg platform. The Q7 is available with either a 4.2 V8 FSI petrol engine with 350 bhp and 440 Nm of torque, or a 3.0 litre, 6-cylinder Turbo diesel which uses the latest generation piezo inline injectors, developing 233 bhp and 500 Nm of torque available from as low as 1750 rpm. Both engines come with a 6-speed tiptronic gearbox.
Adaptive air suspension gives the Q7 a very comfortable ride, and ESP is standard equipment.
The diesel version retails at RM530k while the V8 FSI version retails at RM700k. Orders can be made through Euromobil; delivery time is estimated at 3 months from date of booking.
