Volkswagen Announces Dealer Plans

Kuala Lumpur, Monday, 11th September 2006 – Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) today announced that Wearnes Automotive, More Cars Sdn Bhd and VW Cars Sdn Bhd have been appointed official dealers of VW cars in Malaysia and will be opening a collective five dealer outlets – three 3S showrooms and two 1S showrooms within the Klang Valley.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the dealers, Mr Axel Barth, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd said “We believe that we have been able to establish one of, if not the most, premium and experienced dealer network in terms of dealing with, understanding and appreciating first-rate international auto brands”.

More Cars Sdn Bhd, will have our Volkswagen 3S dealership along Jalan Damansara at Sungai Penchala, Kuala Lumpur and is scheduled to be ready mid November 2006. The Volkswagen 1S dealership will be located along Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur and should be ready to receive customers by the beginning of next year.

As for VW Cars Sdn Bhd, the designated Volkswagen 3S dealership will be at Jalan 219, off Federal Highway in Petaling Jaya and is scheduled to be ready beginning of next year. The Volkswagen 1S dealership will open at UOA Center, Jalan Pinang, Kuala Lumpur and will be ready to receive customers this October 2006.

Wearnes Automotive will be opening its Volkswagen 3S dealership along Jalan Sungei Besi in Kuala Lumpur and will be ready to receive customers sometime in November 2006.

However, in the interest of serving VW’s Malaysian customers who have been patiently waiting, More Cars Sdn Bhd and VW Cars Sdn Bhd, would begin to take customer orders beginning today, 11th September 2006. Wearnes Automotive will be ready to take customer orders in October 2006.

Volkswagen models which will be offered will be the latest models of the Touareg 3.6l, Passat 2.0l, Golf GTi 2.0l, Jetta 2.0l and the 1.6l, the new Golf 1.6l, New Beetle 2.0l and the 1.6l as well as the new Polo 1.6l and the 1.4l and the CrossPolo 1.6l. All these models will be from the model year 2007 and should be arriving in various shipments.

“We believe that the pricing of our cars will be acceptable to the Malaysian public, especially by those who know and understand the build quality and values of our brand. It is still our firm belief and understanding that the Malaysian customer is particularly discerning and would be willing to invest reasonably for good quality,” said Mr Barth.

He added that: “Whilst the industry has gone through a challenging six months, Volkswagen Group Malaysia has remained optimistic and we continue to have confidence in our future here in Malaysia. More importantly, our new partners More Cars Sdn Bhd, VW Cars Sdn Bhd and Wearnes Automotive who have an impressive total number of years of experience between them dealing with premium auto brands in this market, have reinforced this confidence through their faith and conviction in our brand and in our cars”.

Whilst today’s announcement covers the Greater Klang Valley, VGM also hopes to make further announcements soon on the development of a nation-wide dealer network.
