New Audi A3 Sportback Launched by Euromobil
Kuala Lumpur, 18 August, 2006 – Some excitement has just breezed into the lives of Audi lovers today, with the launch of the long-awaited Audi A3 Sportback, a sporty hot hatch from the stables of Euromobil Sdn Bhd, the importers and distributors of the Audi brand in Malaysia. Combining the sporty looks of a coupe and the practicality of a 5-door vehicle, the A3 Sportback is a package that will excite the motoring connoisseur with its performance and dynamic handling.
“The A3 Sportback will appeal to all those looking for a combination of sportiness, dynamism and excellent suitability for everyday use in the premium compact class,” said Datuk Syed Hisham Syed Wazir, Chairman of Euromobil.
“This includes young, successful and discerning individuals and couples who wish to drive a car with fascinating technical features and attach significance to sporting performance. It will also appeal to modern households and families with young children giving preference to a vehicle with exceptional character and innovation in technology and design combined with space and versatility,” he added.
The key features of the A3 Sportback are its two engine variants and the transmission. Customers can opt for the very exciting 2.0 litre, 150 horsepower FSI engine or the exhaust-blown 200 horsepower 2.0 litre TFSI engine. Both variants are coupled to the widely-acclaimed 6-speed DSG automatic transmission with ‘S-Tronic’ (manual shift). Drive is to the front wheels, and a quattro-drive version is available.
Zero to 100 km/hr sprints are accomplished in 9.7 seconds with the 2.0 FSI, and 6.9 seconds with the turbo-charged version. Top speed is 236 km/hr for the turbo-charged version.
Suspension-wise, the A3 is designed for sporty handling, with 4-wheel indeendent suspension, and with an electro-mechanical, speed-variable power steering. An Electronic Stability Program (ESP) comes as part of the standard specifications. An optional hill-hold system is available, to prevent the car from rolling backwards when starting on a hill.
