Two Beauties and a Little Rascal – Citroen’s Latest Introduction
Cyberjaya, 27 July 2005 – Directional Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the distributor for Citroën cars in Malaysia, introduced the Citroen C4, and C5, two beauties, together with a little rascal of a car, the young and sporty C2. These exciting new cars were revealed to the media at Cyberjaya, followed immediately by a test drive of all the three models.
The New C5
The new C5, an elegantly styled car with a strong personality, easy and pleasant to drive, with 9 Airbags for outstanding safety, would appeal to many, as this is a car that has been designed with comfort and safety. The Citroën C5 is a car that embodies technology and comfort in addition to its styling and strong personality. It also boasts of a wide array of technologies and innovation for occupant well being and safety.

The Citroen C5 has the latest high-efficiency driving aids for convenience and safety, including the new-generation ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) and ABS to ensure the vehicle stays precisely on course, and a new knee protection airbag located under the steering column. This knee protection airbag is certainly a first in the industry.
Flawlessly designed, the Citroen C5 has a structured appearance with its elongated lines, side mouldings and taut lower body trim. The front end has been re-designed with extended and chrome-lined chevrons. A new bumper with built in fog lights gives the car a fresh look that is more appealing.
The engine itself has been upgraded to 143 bhp, up 7 horsepower from the current model. It is not a road burner, but will get you there in sophisticated style. For long journeys, you are most likely to arrive fresh and unfatigued
Designed for comfort, the C5 comes with Citroen’s ride-on-air Hydractive suspension that cushions out all irregularities and bumps on the road. The seats come in new Bourbon Velour materials, and are built to pamper the most tender of behinds.
Citroen C4
The C4, a car much awaited by CITROEN enthusiasts, will also be available on our shores .The C4, which was unveiled at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, is a mid-sized car that offers customers a choice of either a saloon or a coupe. Both offer distinctive exterior styling and luxurious space and comfort.
Beyond styling and space, the C4 is designed to bring customers a more relaxed drive. The engine, running gear and many driving aids considerably enhance on-board comfort and safety. The C4 is available with a wide choice of petrol and common-rail diesel turbo engines. However for the Malaysian market Directional Malaysia Sdn Bhd has opted for the 1.6i 16V petrol engine with 110 bhp (DIN).
The C4 has impeccable road manners with its McPherson type suspension at the front and flexible transverse beam at the rear, and comes equipped with ABS and emergency braking assistance.
Cruise control is a standard feature, and the variable electric power steering ensures maximum power is available at all times.
The interior design of the C4 places emphasis on relaxed, fuss-free driving, with discreet, high tech interior styling, reflected in the understated dashboard design, and Innovations for simplicity and ergonomics
A unique feature of the C4 is its multi-function fixed-centre steering wheel, basically a steering wheel with a centre hub that does not turn with the rest of the steering wheel. This way, the driver control and comfort functions are always the right side up, and are within easy reach of the driver. The steering wheel also has a new driving information display unit that is always visible and at a constant location no matter what the steering position is in. Vehicle speed, speed limiter and cruise control settings, etc are displayed on a translucent strip that changes its contrast depending on the lighting conditions, in the center of the dashboard.
The C4’s two variants, the C4 saloon and the C4 Coupe each has its own distinctive style but share the same generous interior space.
By offering a Saloon and Coupe, Citroen is pursuing the strategy initiated in the super-mini segment to address a wide range of customers taste.
Citroen C2 – Young and Sporty
Citroen is expanding the C2 range with a rascally and mischievous, sporty 2-door high performance model, the C2 VTR. The arrival of this version is a natural step forward for the range. The C2 is a car full of character, with clean sharp lines symbolised by the deep-cut side windows. Its unique personality and dynamic looks provide the ideal basis for a sporty car to cater for the young and trendy. The C2 was easily the most enjoyable to drive of the three that day.
The C2 comes with a stylish interior and a unique translucent gear knob. It shares the same platform as the C3, but is a totally different car. It also shares the same revolutionary transmission as the C3, known as the “Sensodrive “ that is actually a manual transmission, and so has no transmission ‘slip’. It comes without a clutch pedal, and allows you to switch from Manual to Auto at the touch of a button, and yet allows you to harness the full power of the engine. Gear shifting can be done using the gear stick or paddles located behind the sporty steering wheel. Equipped with a 110 horsepower 1.6i 16v engine, the C2 is sure to set your adrenalin flowing with its spontaneity of acceleration and its crisp, dynamic handling.

Sales have been targeted at 160 units for the next six months for the C4 variant, 60 units for the C5 and 20 units for the C2. Prices are RM119k for the C4, RM165k for the C5, and RM135k for the C2.
