BFGoodrich AMF AAM Malaysian Autocross Championship Round 2
The weekend was abuzz with screaming engines, screeching tyres, hot tarmac, burnt skin, and beautiful girls. Actually, Saturday was wet from noon onwards, but this did not stop the organisers Asian Motorsports Festival (that’s the name of the company) and their star drivers, Mr. Nishihara, 5-time All Japan Gymkhana Champion, Ivan Khong, and Ian Khong, the well known Malaysian rallying and racing pair, from giving a selected group of motoring enthusiasts a few tips on how to drive competitively. At the end of the day, a small contest was held and the best drivers took away sweet memories and trophies for keeps.
Sunday was a better day, with a slight overcast that alas, did not stay long enough. The sun came out in all its glory, and blistered the tarmac at the Shah Alam Stadium, where the second round of the autocross championship was held.
More than 30 cars took part in the event, and the various champions in the various classes were decided. Up to the time of writing this article, we do not have the confirmed results as yet, due to some small technical problem in the results programming. We will post the results as and when they come in.
After this round, the next event shall be held on 10 -12 December 2004, at Sepang. Do not miss the next one, as this is the round when all the regional champions will be competing against each other to decide who will be the champion of champions.
