Lanun Darat Jamboree
FORD INVITES EVERYONE TO BECOME LAND PIRATES FOR A DAY AT THE LANUN DARAT JAMBOREE
Ford Malaysia is organising a Lanun Darat Jamboree on Sunday, 1st August 2004, to give everyone the opportunity to experience the off-road performance and capacity of Ford’s 4×4 vehicles. To be held at the Shah Alam Stadium off-road track (adjacent to Giant Hypermarket), the Lanun Darat Jamboree promises to be a day full of excitement and fun activities.
This is the first time that Ford Malaysia is opening the Lanun Darat event to members of the public, whether or not they own a Ford vehicle. Commenting on this, Managing Director of Ford Malaysia, Mike Pease said, “We are very excited to have everyone join us at the Lanun Darat Jamboree, which was traditionally organised exclusively for Ford Ranger 4×4 owners. Not only is it an excellent opportunity for all to experience the Ford Ranger first-hand, it will also be chance for families and friends to get-together and have a good time at this carnival.”
Ford’s Lanun Darat 4×4 Adventure Team, which comprises Ford Ranger 4×4 owners, was developed in 1999 as a programme to build and maintain relationships between Ford and its customers. Currently in its sixth year, Lanun Darat is an excellent platform for Ford 4×4 owners to get to know their vehicles’ off-road capabilities and mingle with other enthusiasts alike.
One of the activities that will take place at the Lanun Darat Jamboree is an off-road demonstration to illustrate the versatility and superior handling of Ford’s 4×4 vehicles as it tackles the rough terrain of the off-road track. This will be followed by the “Lanun Darat Obstacle Drive,” as members and Ford owners put their vehicles to the test.
Public test-drives will also be held to offer visitors a chance to experience the comfort and luxury of the spacious 7-seater Ford Everest 4×4 and the performance of Ford Ranger 4×4’s Turbo Inter-Cooled Diesel engine with experts on-hand to guide them.
There will also be a few competitions organised for Lanun Darat members such as “Best Decorated Ford 4WD,” “Best Modified 4WD” and “Best Dressed Lanun Darat Family.” Ford land pirates will also compete in an off-roading competition for all-terrain tyres and mud-terrain tyres, a true test of driving and maneuvering skills, and vehicle handling.
To add to the festivity of the Lanun Darat Jamboree, there will be lots of food, music, face painting, games and attractive prizes to be won. In addition, there will also be exclusive Ford merchandise on sale for souvenir collectors.
