BMW Malaysia Sdn Bhd tonight introduced the BMW 730Li to the Malaysian market, completing the BMW 7 Series line-up in Malaysia.

“From the BMW 760Li with a V12 engine to the 745Li and 735Li with V8 engines, the BMW 7 Series line-up is now complete with the introduction of the 730Li with a straight-six engine,” Wolfgang Schlimme, Managing Director of BMW Malaysia Sdn Bhd, told guests at the special launch event held in the historically-significant Chinwoo Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

“We at BMW Malaysia believe in giving the customer as many choices as possible. The new 730Li comes with a host of remarkable accessories making it one of the best equipped vehicles among its competitors,” Mr Schlimme added.

The latest 730Li puts the best of the latest cutting-edge technology at the driver’s disposal. For example, the iDrive system provides the driver valuable information and useful functions in eight different categories such as the latest statistics of the car and its service status, climate control, communication options and entertainment at the touch of a button. This is information technology at its luxurious best.

In keeping with the cutting-edge technology offered by the BMW 7 Series sedans, the 730Li comes with a series of features that distinguish it as a truly premium vehicle These include a 6-speed Steptronic transmission, sunroof and a car telephone with a second cordless receiver in the rear.

The 730Li has, as standard, with bi-xenon headlights, electromechanical parking brake system and self-leveling suspension. The latter is an air suspension system with adaptive damping and all-round level control. The car is also fitted with power-closing for the boot (which can hold four golfbags, by the way) and soft close automatic doors which use electric power to gently close all four doors.

Safety is not compromised for the sake of luxury as the 730Li comes with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) which assists the driver in abrupt maneuvers and bends by automatically applying suitable braking pressure. This ensures better control of the car and lets the driver maintain control even when the tyres lose grip. DSC also helps smooth out minor errors in cornering maneuvers for a smoother, safer drive.

“This car stands out in the luxury limousine segment by far, with more options, and still maintains all the key characteristics of what a BMW should be – agility, dynamic performance and uncompromising luxury”, declared Mr Schlimme.

Other safety features such as the unique BMW restraint system, belt latch tensioner system, head and side airbags for the driver and passengers, side impact protection and crumple zones help to make the 730Li one of the safest cars offered in Malaysia.

Along with all its refinements, the 730Li comes with BMW’s award-winning straight six engine which features the double-VANOS mechanism. Drawing upon the superior performance of the engine power, BMW claims the 730Li is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds, and is capable of achieving an electronically-limited top speed of 237 km/h. Despite its amazing performance levels, the 730Li is said to have a modest fuel consumption of 9.3 kms/litre (26.4 mpg).

The price of the new BMW 730Li, with a specially customized options profile specifically to meet the demands of Malaysian customers, will be RM590,000 (on-the-road, excluding insurance) and it will be available at all authorized BMW dealers nationwide.
