WPC Goes to Fraser’s Hill
Members of the Waja Performance Club (WPC) love to go on long drives all around the country (maybe someday they’ll even carry the flag across the border to Thailand). With the Lotus-tuned suspension plus their own tweaks, the Proton Waja is obviously a car that is best enjoyed on country roads.
The road to Fraser’s Hill is one of the more challenging ones and recently, the club organized a trip up to the hill resort on July 27th. There were 30 Wajas with a total of 50 participants who made the 130-km journey. As always, the club received generous support from Proton, Petronas and Proton Edar which contributed t-shirts, RM30 petrol vouchers for each car and meals, respectively. Total Water (PJ) Sdn Bhd also chipped in with two bottles of distilled drinking water for each Waja.
The event was flagged off by Muzakhir Bahari , Manager of Proton Edar for service marketing and promotion, from the Petronas station in Subang Jaya, Selangor. While the highway section was fairly easy, when it came to the twisty roads up to the hill resort, there had to be four stops to allow everyone to regroup. By the time, the convoy reached Fraser’s Hill, the drivers were rather worn out and so the afternoon was spent relaxing. In the evening, there was a BBQ dinner which was pretty nice in the cool environment at the Silverpark Resort where they stayed the night.
The next day, the participants listened to a technical presentation by Proton Edar personnel as well as had a chance to get some hands-on training in basic car care. They checked out by noon and had a chance to test the brakes of the Waja on the downhill run.
The club has many more activities lined up including a visit to the Kayaba shock absorber factory and MasterBody this month. In September, there’s a trip to the Enkei wheel factory near Rawang and also the launching of the WPC at the Proton factory, followed by a factory visit.
