BMW 530i Now in Auto Bavaria Showrooms
Auto Bavaria has announced the availability of the new BMW 530i in locally-assembled form with a pricetag of RM377,598.15 (personal registration, without insurance).The 530i is the flagship of the latest locally-assembled range which includes the 520i and the 525i that were launched in July 2001.
The 530i comes with a 6-cylinder 3.0 litre M54 powerplant which delivers a power output of 170 kW/231bhp and torque of 300 Nm at 3,500 rpm. This sort of output enables the highly desirable executive sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a claimed 7.6 seconds.
The locally-assembled version is not short of high-tech features. It comes packed with state-of-the-art technology such as the electronic accelerator pedal (drive-by-wire) innovation, optimised adaptive transmission management for BMW’s pioneering automatic transmission with Steptronic that allows driving with conventional automatic transmission or manual gear shifts, self-levelling headlight alignment, and electrically adjustable steering among others.
According to Auto Bavaria General Manager (Marketing and Sales), Tunku Badlishah bin Tunku Annuar, the launch of the 530i completes the new 5 Series line-up for Malaysia.”Those who are in the market for a BMW are now spoilt for choice with three locally-assembled models from just the 5 Series range alone to choose from. The 530i is for the discerning motorist who wants adrenaline-pumping performance without sacrificing luxury and comfort,” he said.
The new BMW 5 Series is characterised by a discreet facelift and the introduction of more powerful engines. The facelift includes brilliant-look tail lights and headlamps with light conductor rings enclosed behind clear glass. The foglamps are now round instead of rectangular. The signature BMW kidney grille has been redesigned with wider chrome surrounds for greater emphasis.
Aside from the more striking and aesthetically pleasing appearance and the new powerplants, the new 5 Series offers even greater safety. The car now has up to 10 airbags, including the Inflatable Tubular Structure (ITS) head airbags for the front occupants and side airbags in the C-pillar for rear passengers. The ITS head airbags inflate diagonally across the side windows to prevent direct and indirect head injuries. Other standard safety features include ABS brakes and Automatic Stability Control + Traction (ASC + T).
