Buy an Audi, Win an Audi
It’s hard to say whether it’s the general market slowdown or just the usual festive season sales promotions but of late, many car companies have been making very attractive offers to customers. These range from free gifts like digital cameras to overseas trips and typically, very low interest rates on H-P loans (the difference is subsidised by the car company and not indicative of market rates offered by finance companies).
Auto Dunia has also joined in the aggressive marketing activities and offers not only extra-low interest rates but also low minimum downpayments and longer repayment periods.
According to Ronald Ng, Auto Dunia’s Head of the Audi division, the deals are to make it very easy for people to own an Audi. “For those who are thinking of upgrading their present car, this is the best time to choose an Audi and I daresay that such a deal [of low interest and downpayment] cannot be obtained elsewhere,” he said.
Applicable to its locally-assembled Audi A4 1.8T and A6 2.4 models, the minimum downpayment has been slashed to just 10% of the purchase price. This means that a customer would only need to come up with RM20,100 for the A4 and RM28,100 for the A6.
Next is the interest rate which has been dropping almost every month, partly due to the government’s measures to boost consumer spending and avoid a full-blown recession. Average interest rates these days are less than 5% but Auto Dunia offers something even lower: as low as 1.9% for the A4 and 2.6% for the A6!
The time you take to pay back affects the amount you pay each month. A shorter repayment period may save you some interest but it also means a higher instalment amount each month. A longer period lowers the monthly instalment but then you have to pay more interest, which is calculated on a per-year basis. The extra-low interest rates offered by Auto Dunia help reduce the amount of interest payable.
Assuming you take the maximum loan of 90% and the maximum repayment period of 7 years, the monthly instalment for the A4 would be around RM2,276 and for the A6, it would be around RM3,832. Not too ‘painful’ for a luxury car…
For the first 150 purchasers of any of the two models, there is also a chance to win the very desirable TT 1.8 Coupe valued at RM320,000 (you’ll have to pay for the insurance, though). All the buyers have to do is to sign the word ‘Audi’ as creatively as possible and answer two simple questions on the contest form. Eligible participants are those who sign up for a car from the beginning of November 2001 through February 2002. And all those who sign up for an Audi before December 31st 2001 will get an exclusive imported gift too.
Buyers of the Audi TT 1.8T Coupe Quattro, which has a pricetag of RM350,000, are also eligible to take part in the contest but they don’t get those super deals on financing. However, Mr Ng said that Auto Dunia has an attractive package for intending purchasers. He added that besides Auto Dunia’s showrooms in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Johor Bahru and Penang, customers can also get test-drives of the A4 1.8T and A6 2.4 at the company’s dealer in Malacca, Seong Hoe Enterprise Sdn Bhd.
