I bought 300+ worth of meguiars products and microfibers from homefix biggrin.gif

Got NXT car wash, UQD, Endurance tire gel, Gold class rich leather, natural shine protectant.
Years ago i bought 3 step deep crystal system. Today tried it and looks like still usable biggrin.gif
Very tiring. Apply step 1, buff off, apply step 2, buff off, apply step 3, buff off, pengsan!

Since you are beginning, next you can try Duragloss. I personally recon better bang for the buck. Wax when the car is wet, you can try Duragloss aquawax. Its a spray wax. You can spray on wet or dry car, but better on dry. Spray on wet car then dry the car then buff.

You can buy DG online or got to chinese medicine shop or go to the office.

Hi sifus, i have a couple questions about detailing, which confused me quite a lot, haha..

Is wax a sealant? Because as i read DG105 description, and other brand wax description, they also mention add a polymer coat to our car body paint.

Do we use AOI product while the car is dry or wet? I read somewhere a guy mention polish car in wet..
http://www.caranddri...ure?redirect=no
Notice that his technique tip keep the area wet and just enough for polish..

We use touch up paint before or after we polish+wax a car?

Thanks a bunch!

1. Wax = Is a LSP (Last Step Product) used to protect the car's paint after polishing. Usually made from carnauba wax and mixture of bees wax and other waxes if its a higher end product. Its usually thought of as a"natural" product vs a sysnthetic man made product but there are hybrid versions where carnauba is mixed with synthetic chemicals and waxes.

2. Sealant = Is a LSP which is usually fully synthethic thus man made. Or you could think of it as a synthethic wax rather than a natural wax. DG105 is classified as a synthethic sealant (more accurate). Or you can call it a "synthetic wax" but technically speaking its not a synthethic wax. Its a synthetic sealant (which layers a synthetic layer over the paint) because it doesn't try to mimic a wax and it doesn't have man made synthetic waxes in there.

3. Generally all polishes and AIO works best on a dry panel with a damp pad or damp polishing pad. If you need added lubricity if the polish dries up too fast we DIY people usually use a spray bottle of water and just mist the water as we can accurately control the amount of water. Sometimes the polish starts to dry a bit fast and doesn't allow us enough working time to allow the abrasives to fully do thier job as when you use a Rotary Buffer it produces heat on the surface of the paint, thus we mist some water. Not all AIO like to me misted with water. Alittle is ok but if there is too much it will be grabby and may clump to get together like eraser dust because of the synthetic sealants in the AIO. Like for e.g. DG 501 AIO is ok with a little water but it doesn't like too much water.

4. Touch up paint for chips and scratches are always used on a clean, dirt, oil, wax and sealant free panel. Basically you panel must be totally striped of any protection and clean so that the touch up paint can band properly, once fully cured and done, we can polish the area to try to smoothen and blend the touched up area then we can apply our LSP. Wax, sealant or coating is up to you.

Phew! Just finished my car.
Took me 2 days to do. And it is just the exterior!
With some rest in between.
I think i'd better get the Bosch ROB for future diy.

But that is the more accurate way to do step by step..... smile_tongue.gif

If want to cut short, DG501 AIO then DG105 is 2 steps... smile_big.gif
