I got the impression from Mazda that they were completely disinterested in selling the BT-50 in Malaysia. They launched the BT-50 in September and still can't confirm the cost of the services, no test drive unit for the 2.2 auto, no reviews in the Malaysian auto media. It seems like the vehicle they don't care about. How can you have enough confidence to buy it if they can't tell you how much a service costs?
I am an owner of BT50 for 1 month now @ 5.5k KM, current fuel consumption shown by the meter is 9.7l/100km which is about right.
So far only issue is sometimes during cold start, can hear "mouse creaking" noise from dashboard which will be gone after some driving, low end pick up is not as good but acceptable.
Why I bought BT50, because its cheaper than Ranger, more features than Ranger especially Traction Control, I have seen it blinking when I accidentally went into deep puddle of water, rev too much after going through bump and went into corner abit too fast in Karak highway. And I dont care about resale value.
Did 180km/h on Taiping stretch before the AES without problem and really stable even at that kind of speed. Steering is really precise on Karak highway, in muddy area surprisingly gives good feedback on where your tyres are and feeling the traction of your tyres. Comfort wise in normal driving is abit bumpy(stiff), comparing to a 3.0 Dmax, Dmax gives your a floating sensation going over bump but BT50 gives your ass a nice thump.
Best part of all this is, long distance driving is so much better in a 4x4 with cruise control.
1k Service = RM100 per 4 litre oil x2 + 1 litre oil RM 39 (Shell Helix) + RM70 for oil filter(saw Ford is cheaper,maybe source from Ford next service at 11k)
