Hi there,

you will need to ask yourself the following question

a) how long do change you car ? If 3-5 years then VW may not be the answer.
More than 5 years than okay
cool.gif Spare parts wise for VW you can get anything under the roof is only the waiting time. I have Vento and Ig to friends still driving a MK1 and all parts can be order even a gearbox. It is just waiting time

Do you know Singapore VW/Audi spare warehouse part is the size of 3 football field and has been around for the last 10 years already. That was told me from euromobil collegue

c) Hyundai styling is catching up I would say. No question about that Built Quality still need to work on it. My friend got Kia forte first week already got rattaling sound. Of course, no car is prefect. Still tying to isolate weird sound from my Passat CC

My two cents. I would urge you for Jetta instead of polo. Reason

a) 1.6 is proven engine but been around for long time
cool.gif Gearbox 6 speed okay since my is only 4 speed (bora) which translate to more fuel economy
c) 1.4TSI is a much fuel efficient engine and the gearbox is good

jktlee

Thanks for the reply jktlee. I would like the Jetta too unfortunately it is out of my budget.

I would be using the car definitely for more than 5 yrs. Is the dated 1.6 engine in Polo Sedan that bad in terms of FC as compared to 1.2 TSI engine in the POLO Hatchback?

Guys

Need some opinion regarding my issue. I plan to get a sedan car. Budget around RM100k

Came across this Polo Sedan, 2011 car I can get around RM6k discount, which brings the car to around RM95-96k OTR.

The reason I choose VW :

1. 5 yrs unlimited mileage warranty
2. 15k service interval
3. It's a VW.

But few of my friends advised me to get Korean like Hyundai Elantra (RM97k OTR for 1.6 High Spec) with more features. Personally I don't mind having the Hyundai, but I'm afraid since it's INOKOM, after sales and service would be below average.

What do you guys think?

I would go for the Elantra. Hyundai service standards are pretty good IMO.

I'd trade in my kelisa for this polo sedan

reason:

1. too many T, H N on the road, I want a special or uniq one (myself only)

2. the spec i quite like it, altough is not TSI, or DSG, i bet the maintenance cheaper then TSI and DSG. Im married with 1 kid, so i no need traction control, no others extra stuff......I test drove, its good actually, i quite like it. Roomies, boot is huge, good for a small family.

3. Its VW. Im boring with the spec about T, H and N and others........

4. Fuel consumption is good , I manage to survey on the web. 600km 1 tank(maximum), 15k service interval, 15 inch Rim, 16 or 17 inch too big for me, and those tyres are expensive too.

5. only 1 car for my family, for long term, I never think to change any car. i believe the quality, even CBU from India. Not every cars is perfect.

6. Interior is nice, althoug its feels like plastic, but its ok too.

7. I manage to find out the gearbox is from Aisin Japan, matching the engine and proof its reliable with 6 speed.

haha, thats my choice la. I dun need speed like TSI, i need a car which less fuel consumption, less hassel, etc...polo sedan just nice...... and its VW.

It is call ESP, which Traction Control comes with it..

ESP is important not for racing or speeding, but for avoiding your car from skiing in the event you lose control.. it helps to point your nose to the direction where your car suppose to be heading. With ESP on, you cant to drifting, so it is program to keep your car at the right direction..

ESP is for safety purpose to avoid accident.. its even more important if you are concern about family safety, especially with Msia weather with plenty of rain and standstill water on the road..

Dissapointed with VGM not making ESP as standard on all their models..

Thanks, but no need to disappoint about it, i know ESP is for safety purpose, even many cars with ESP also got accident.....its depends how you drive, your attitude driving on the road is crucial far better then ESP (just my opinion).

sometimes is not the way we drive, sometimes is how other ppl drive no matter how cautious we are..
in the even we just might need some "extra help" to avoid accident bcos of other reckless driver, or nature like heavy downpour that cause our car to lose control out of our intention...

I still believe its a precaution no matter how safely we drive as I was hit by a reckless driver before and nearly gone into a spun and it was raining..

anyway, Polo Sedan is still a good car, enjoy it..its not a car but a German Engineering...

Well Said... I like you word is not a car but a German Engineering.....

I test drive the car as well, honestly I like it although is C-Segment with almost B-segment pricing... I own 2 Jap, 1 Proton previously and currently 1 Kia and 1 Puegeot....when I drive Polo Sedan I can felt the different vs the car I have before. Is not about the spec and features is something intangible and hard to explain. It just fell right.

now SA offers pre-reg Polo Sedan at 85K, and whole new Honda City also at 85K... wondering which one to take. would maintenance and fuel consumption be much higher for Polo Sedan?
