Disappointed After Spending 4k In Soundproofing

long story short, I spent in the region of RM3k+ in SP elsewhere and ended up ripping out most of it.. I couldn't stand the sensation of sitting in a sealed, pressurized cabin.. while many take Lexus LS460 as one of the kings of quiet, I cannot sit inside one for more than 12 seconds (seriously, I timed it) before I get the buzzing in my ears.. while it may be true that that is one definition of quiet, that sensation borders on uncomfortable to me.
while it's unfortunate that there are some who aren't totally satisfied with Desmond's efforts and offerings, I think that there is a larger ratio of satisfied customers when compared to disappointed customers.. so while it's all within anybody's right to air grouses on the forum, it must be kept in mind that there is more than likely, a larger number who haven't voiced their satisfaction in these forums

Am one of the luckily fellor tested stock Lexus with mr Q at klauto , in my mind this gonna be one comfortable / quiet  ride . Oh boy I was so wrong felt I was in a plane about to take off that pressurized feeling n felt a bit too enclosed . Didn't quite like the feeling.Â
During our short ride the cabin is pretty quiet but not till the extent that I don't hear road noise / motor, bus noise. Road noise I feel it is not all over the place . 400k vs 94k see the difference ?Â
For my forte after doing the QuiteDrive ,Initially I too didn't feel much difference but after sitting  in the much much more luxurious car but in STOCK condition I felt my kimchi the roar is not too bad either . Don't get me wrong roar still there but not all over the place.
I was given boot lid treatment foc , seriously do the back boot lit engine sound further odd ain't it .. To my surprise it did . Normally my cold start i do hear the the engine noise now it is much gentle .. Now my boot lit is freaking heavy  , knock on it solid sound feedback .Â
Aside to Mr Q aka Wlq
My mod at klauto :
Comfort pkg
Quitedrive
Boot lid
Bonnet still virgin Â
Aside to Desmond
Thanks for the bengali drink n boot lid treatment . Will save some bullets for the 4 doors . My money tree all botak already ..

I can understand your frustration. From reading this thread it seems that SP is more a matter of art than science. Anyway, it seems that it's not always possible to get it right the first time for everyone (whether that KL Auto or KK Lau or whoever else). The only good point is that Desmond is willing to refund you (even without shootout) after you complained.
What I don't understand is your unwillingness to accept his offer. As you know most vendors won't even bother with complaints, much less offer to refund. Yeah, you were unhappy with some aspects of his service... so go and get your money back since Desmond said so. Better than just complaining on a forum and lose 2k right?
BTW I'm not affiliated with either KL Auto or KK Lau. Never done any SP treatment for my car.

Very good suggestion indeed. I am using an android based phone and downloaded DB Noise Meter. Is this software good enough and please share if you know of a better one. If KHAWWM is agreeable, we can use the same software and phone to test and we will post the results together with both our subjective reviews and observations during the test ride. Also, its good if we can do the comparison (subject to KHAWWM's availabilty) sometime this Sunday at KK Lau instead. There are bad patches of road around there as well and we can access NPE for the highway test (high speed) comparison.
Any of those android/iphone software should be fine. After all, it is not a professional device to chk dBm, but at least it provide some estimate guides with numbers. Make sure same condition, place at same position (I prefer right ear location).

Wow, so many replies (also noticed lots of support for KL Auto and their works). Some post even the same day they register as members here and some copy paste old "happy" stories also. Not so sure what is the relevance when I am very specific on my issues and queries here that went unanswered. Well, it looks like an open forum, anyone can post their thoughts here (related or otherwise).
To clear the air as I can see some people are already praising that KL Auto is so generous with a refund and why I am not accepting it, this "refund" is not so simple as returning a product and getting a refund. Here is some reasons why:-
1) I am not letting KL Auto strip open my boot / back seat again to strip all the materials out. What if the job is not done properly (maliciously or otherwise) and later loose parts sounds etc? For someone like me who already spend almost RM7K on soundproofing, why in the world I would want to risk my current ride which I am happy with to have loose sounds etc for the RM2K refund?
2) On the scraping of of the Quietdrive on 4 wheel fenders? Again, I am not comfortable with the 2 KL Auto foreign workers who most likely be assigned to remove the plastic cover of my fenders (they were the ones who applied the Quietdrive in the 1st place) / wheel arches and scraping the metal parts as well as the plastic fenders. So many things can go wrong here... I leave it to your imagination....
3) Also, Dynamat Extreme as well as other insulation materials have been installed on some of the parts mentioned above. I really dont see how one can be stripped/ scrapped/ washed with chemicals without damaging/ jeopardizing the other part.
Again, I would like to highlight that in the end, this is not "Installer A is better than Installer B" story. Of course the soundproofing of your ride will most probably be great or satisfactory when you tell Installer A your budget is upwards of RM8K or you are eventually "poisoned" by the same Installer to spend that kind of $$$ to fully soundproof your car (whether in 1 go or few stages).
In my case, whether you call it a "communication" or "perception/ expectation" problem, what happens when you are misled ("perception/ expectation") that spending RM3.2K will improve your car's ride road noise substantially (at least 30%) with so and so "recommended" treatment based on experience of a R&D team to boot. I can think of 4 solutions here:-
1) Go back for re-tweaks and waste your time (At the mercy of installers free time/schedule/stock. If installer " tidak apa attitude"... you are screwed and end up waiting as in my case)
2) During re-tweaks, perhaps get more "poisoned" to spend more/ get upgrades (in the end spending RM6K - RM10K).. and most will be happy with the results after spending that much money. (Hmmmn... a good follow up marketing strategy here)
3) Brush it off saying its a matter of difference in "perception/ expectation" followed by a challenge for a shootout.
4) Refund but subject to "Hey, come over and let my boys strip/ scrap/ chemically wash your car over again. We "promise" to do a real "fine" job, the 3rd time round since you gave us a negative feedback.
Theoretically, say your mistress is unhappy with her surgeon on her new boobjob, not "firm" enough as advertised is her complain. You think she will agree to go under the knife by the same surgeon to get a refund subject to the silicone implants being removed?

Haha BMkia, you really have a good sense of humor. i totally agree with you dude.
i dont believe that Desmond is fully sincere in his offer of a "full refund". i think Desmond sometimes promises too much? also, i feel that some forummers here are "Desmond fanboys", seriously. i remember i read a thread in here about a lady mentioning that Desmond was being rude to her, these "fanboys" started defending him. haha.
ah well.
BMkia, my take is that you'd have to suck it up and live with it. spending anymore money on any "tune-up" and etc. will make you poorer only.

I agreed, the best way is to move on from here and live with it and hopefully take it as a lesson..otherwise it is as if you are digging deeper and deeper..
Or, bring the case to a tribunal..

you are correct, but isn't that what happens in all forums though? proponents vs opponents?
i've been in those shoes with Sika products, and your advice is true in that situation as well... once it gave me unsatisfactory results, i walked away from it rather than spend more money on it..

sometimes the "opponents" are rival business interest!
