today drop by VW Glenmarie and saw about 40 brand new cars park everywhere. looks like business is really good for VW. SA told be still not enough car to deliver. man...guess the wind has change.

manage to check out all the passat, jetta & polo sedan. generally speaking, all the build quality is top notch especially door closing feeling. no way a jap/korean can give you that feel. however, i have to say the polo sedan driver seat is a bit off center. maybe it is just me. driving position a bit awkward. smile_blackeye.gif other than that, the center handbrake console a bit empty and no arm rest woh...remind me proton saga look alike. smile_blackeye.gif

as for the rest, headroom is minimum for a 6 footer even for passat. guess their roofline trim down too much. but the jetta got steering pedal shift! again, for a 100K it is a premium.

Agree on the roofline, quite low for a passenger car.

Just FYI, Jetta is about 150K

I DID NOT LIKE WHAT I SAW BECAUSE IT LOOKED SO PLAIN.
BUT THE TEST DRIVE IMPRESS ME. IS IT BECAUSE IT IS MADE IN INDIA THAT IT IS HARDLY DISTURBED DRIVING ON POTHOLES AND PATCHY ROADS? SPARE PARTS FOR THIS SEDAN VERY COSTLY? SALESMAN SAID SOME MOVING PARTS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY LIKE SHOCK ABSORBERS, BUSHES, MOUNTINGS, ETC

Can VGM help their Principle to achieve their ultimate goal of becoming global top volume with this kind of pricing strategy? Good luck.

Haven't seen the real car yet but it reminds me of Latio. Both are high-b segment but the Latio sedan spec is awful smile_blackeye.gif .... until need to give heavy discount to move a small number.

fyi, VGM is the principle themselves @ VAG from germany. VGM is not local owned. they only set up the distributor office in KL, the rest (sales & service) they opened up to dealers nationwide.

Does VW Polo Sedan have the same spare parts as VW Vento 1.6 CL 1997? I want to sell mine for RM 30k.

Vento is actually a Golf with a boot, yours one is the Mk4 Golf model.

Booted version of Golfs are also known as either Jetta and Bora in different markets. This started as far mid as 80s with the Mk2 Golf.

At the time, the european manufacturers were trying out the ideas of sedan for hatch-crazed europeans.
Ford add a boot on the Escort, called them Orion. Vauxhall did the same with Astra, and sell it as Belmont.

so to answer you - no, Polo Sedan does not share parts with you Vento, even though the Polo Sedan is called Vento in India (such a f**ked up confusion) and continental cars of the 90s, only high end models gets 4 valve per cylinder engines. i maybe wrong, but yours would probably be an 8 valve engine, again different from the Polo Sedan.

15k kms (polo dont know how much but a tsi is about 600-700 buck) I do mine at 7.5k kms

that is an average of around rm230 for every 5,000km. equally the same but save the time to visit svc centres as well as petrol money and all other hassles.

Guys

Need some opinion regarding my issue. I plan to get a sedan car. Budget around RM100k

Came across this Polo Sedan, 2011 car I can get around RM6k discount, which brings the car to around RM95-96k OTR.

The reason I choose VW :

1. 5 yrs unlimited mileage warranty
2. 15k service interval
3. It's a VW.

But few of my friends advised me to get Korean like Hyundai Elantra (RM97k OTR for 1.6 High Spec) with more features. Personally I don't mind having the Hyundai, but I'm afraid since it's INOKOM, after sales and service would be below average.

What do you guys think?

Hi there,

you will need to ask yourself the following question

a) how long do change you car ? If 3-5 years then VW may not be the answer.
More than 5 years than okay
cool.gif Spare parts wise for VW you can get anything under the roof is only the waiting time. I have Vento and Ig to friends still driving a MK1 and all parts can be order even a gearbox. It is just waiting time

Do you know Singapore VW/Audi spare warehouse part is the size of 3 football field and has been around for the last 10 years already. That was told me from euromobil collegue

c) Hyundai styling is catching up I would say. No question about that Built Quality still need to work on it. My friend got Kia forte first week already got rattaling sound. Of course, no car is prefect. Still tying to isolate weird sound from my Passat CC

My two cents. I would urge you for Jetta instead of polo. Reason

a) 1.6 is proven engine but been around for long time
cool.gif Gearbox 6 speed okay since my is only 4 speed (bora) which translate to more fuel economy
c) 1.4TSI is a much fuel efficient engine and the gearbox is good
