plus, how to take out the spare tyre? i notice it's stored underneath the car, i found the jack but don't know how to lower the tyre. thanks a lot.

I have a Berlingo 2002. Had it for 8 years now. Such a nice car to drive.

In answer to your questions..

Yes Berlingo have immobilizer. Keys are all coded. You should receive a Citroen Code card along with the car. Shown on card is 4 alphanumeric characters required to reprogram new keys, remote central locking, BSI controller etc. You will need this code to program a new key. Key shop can only cut the new key blade. You still need to have a workshop equipped with Citroen Proxia/LEXIA diagnosis to reprogram new keys.

Best you do not fit aftermarket alarm system. The multiplexed wiring system for Berlingo is not to be meddled with. Cutting and splicing wires runs the risk of interfering with the car's functions.

If you must have the remote working again, get a new original Citroen remote key with lock/unlock function. All Berlingo 1 & 2 originally came with it. After years of usage and changing owners, this remote key tend to get damaged or lost.

The fuel filler cap is made that way. It's very secured when locked.

Access to spare wheel securing bolt is below the black PVC floormat. Lift mat up to see it.

Citroen genuine coolant is premixed (diluted) thus no need add water. It is expensive and you'll need alot. Alternatively you could use some other quality coolant (concentrated) and mix with distilled water.

thanks for replying. the dealer only pass me 1 key to the car, claimed that he don't hv any spare and remote when the previous owner trade in to them. no manual, no citroen card whatsoever. common issue when buying used car fr dealer i guess. if aftermarket stuff might interfere with the system i guess better not risk it. or should i bring to citroen center (where is it in penang?)???
-for coolant my mech will order for me, special coolant for citroen cars only he said.
-for spare tyre, i found a 'screw/nut' under the plastic mat but how to 'open' it? only found car jack and handle at side of back panel.
-for fuel cap, if it's design like this way then i am fine with it. only surprised when the whole thing 'detached' when filling for the 1st time.

agreed with your approach not to interfere with the system because not many installer familiar with citroen car. My car also got a same problem in accessories shop during installation of my new HU. they told me installation is free and fast so i proceed lah , unfortunately after one hour they still unable to fit my HU, to avoid any mass might happen, i told them i'll do it myself lah..

If you insist to install after market stuff, please create new wiring system direct from battery and interconnect with relay (macam accessories shop install amplifier tu, easier to debug if anything goes wrong)

for citroen coolant i didn't know they have premix with water (damn) hence i'm only using 2 liter coolant and and mix with tap water.. thank for the valuable info.

note: Because i have done mix my original citroen mix with water, i want to see the result within 2 years. Last time i never use any coolant about 1 and half year and my engine had develop rust and clog my radiator. I'm try to look what happen if i mix citroen coolant with tap water within 2 years (if 2 years still no problem, i will wait for another 2 years). Currently i have mix the coolant with tap water for about 9 month so i have another 15 month to go to see the result. i will update you the outcome.

my berlingo previous owner already install after market HU (panasonic dvd player w monitor), so not sure whether the acc shop did any rewiring or not. need to bring to shop to check and confirm. if can install new HU, mean can install aftermarket alarm too???

and if i were to go to citroen service center to request for spare key and remote etc, would they be able to do it? since it's a 2003 car and without the owner manual/card/record. i wonder how much would it cost??

Brooklands can help you get the code. Bring your vehicle to them, inform them you're the new owner. The code you can get for free. The remote, a few hundred bucks. The service to reprogram about $100 there. Much cheaper done at independent workshops.

To unscrew the spare wheel securing bolt, use the jack's handle. The hook-shaped end will fit onto the bolt and you can turn it.

Berlingo 1 & 2 sold here were equipped with aftermarket CD players. The wiring for these CD players are independent from the car's multiplexed wiring. Not part of the BSI system and doesn't affect ECU etc. However, aftermarket alarm system will need to splice into the multiplexed wiring to control the central locks which are part of the BSI system. This is where something can go wrong.

thanks for ur info. is Brooklands the citroen service center i got for citroen malaysia website? i call them and was told they need to get the keys and remote fr France! may i know what do u mean by 'independent workshops'? where can i find in penang/seberang perai area?
i am still waiting for replacement parts for power window motor and side view mirror unit since local shops not keeping stock, need to order. plan to go to acc shop to have the bedliner material remove and replace with 'heat proof'/heat insulating mat since the heat fr exhaust pipe is 'baking' the original mat. any suggestion?

sometimes the engine die off after starting, plugs are ok according to my mech. any idea what is wrong? need to do tinting too as windows are quite huge.

Dear bro tny

There are massive information that you have given. Find useful info on bsi (body system interface) which is the circuit that control all the ecu ,s. Citroen has also adapt CAN and multiplexing operation for data transfer. Do not know about belingo, but recent Citroen model basic features is being incorporated in the bsi. Mainly for security reasons and you have give a very good advice smile_thumbup.gif

Here's a good Citroen workshop. He have the LEXIA diagnosis system.

Rajan (013-430 3308) Address: 288A-01-07, Jln Tean Teik, Fortune Court, Georgetown.

I'm sure the heat from exhaust can't penetrate through and cook the mat. There are heat shields fitted above center and rear silencer. The floormat's upper surface is made of hardwearing material, however the under surface is softer. Mine's 10 years old now it's crumbling like biscuits. Eventually I intend to replace with new floormat.

When doing tint, remove the 2 sliding door windows and 2 rear quarter windows which can be easily unscrewed from inside. They'll be able to apply tint neater that way. Else have to cut around the 3 securing hinges holding each windows, it won't look neat.

On the engine issue, plug into diagnosis to see what faults appear.
