Will this Passat give Camry and Accord a stiff competition?

Easily eat their piece of cake bro...

Technically it should. Since the VW brand is on the upswing now & more consumers are becoming more discerning. Just make sure the CKDs are up to par in quality.

BTW, samt81 I'm looking to offload my MkV GTI. How long do I have to wait for the Golf R?

I'll have to pay a visit to the VW dealership and have a proper look at the Passat. If you are willing to spend RM175k on a car, you have a lot of good choices. The 2.5 Mazda 6 is a beauty. The 2.5 Teana is very well kitted out too. You can't beat the Camry or Accord on resale value and their 2.4 versions are impressive. The Passat just adds to the choice in a segment that's got a lot of good choices.

Conti buyers know what they want and usually dont think and think this and that.

br1,

better grab them now as all the components are still from VAG at this point. Later on, more local parts will be introduces.

Hahaha, good man. Conti buyers don't think about what they are doing? I guess that explains why someone in Malaysia would buy a Citroen. biggrin.gif

Continentals are not 'that' BAD as some think them to be. I am enjoying my ride now. Now I know why German cars are so good. Not too brad or talk big here but just to share my driving and ownership experience. Last evening after an appointment, was driving towards home trying out a new highway. At first I was just going at 90km/h to 110km/h just enjoying the drive and scenery. smile_approve.gif Saw a few cars zoomed past quite pretty fast. After about 10 mins of 'slow' driving, I told myself since there was not much traffic at that moment why not just try to hit 220km/h just to confirm that this ride lives up to its reputation and not some kind of coffee talk from its brochure. I enjoy driving and appreciate its engineering. I don't race with anyone when I hit 220km/h at that highway within seconds. At 180km/h the wind noise was pretty ok but 220km/h the wind was loud. However, my ride was very solid and planted at that speed. My wifey also agreed to it. There was no nervousness from the car nor me although that moment was my very first time in 20 years of driving that I hit more that 180km/h. smile_evil.gif Cheers to everyone who is thinking of getting a German, you won't regret but it is not about speed, it is the total package that one gets in one car. For this price tag, it has to be a German. wink.gif
