no problem for me to send the V/S40 spare parts list but to where ?
need your E mail address la.....
gondorking
Volvo are sharing parts with Mitsubishi and proton ...this do not mean
you can use proton parts on Volvo as both car are two different
category on engine power, kerb weight & safety perfomance although
the parts are identical or similar , unless you are the type " nak gaya
tapi tak mampu bayar " have to use proton parts on the Volvo ....this
sure will compromise on the safety issue.
But many non safety concern parts like Wira/Waja/Gen2 Front
stabilizer bar , Rear Anti roll Bar ,4 points lower arm bar....are
advisable to use it on the volvo as it will save $$$$ and also
perfomance the same result.

Which to go ..... should ask back your self , What do you expect from
the car ? family daily use? family outing use? personel daily use ?
weekend car ? or both sreet & track use?
As the S40 are more on Mid Executive image compact car that good
for daily use and also small family outing and if you like high speed
perfomance the 2.0T or even better T4 will make you happy.
2001 model ( phs 2 ) are always better choice as with more than
1000 items improvement from 1998-2000 model
V40 are more for mid-upper family use on kids school route or
shopping trip but again if you dare to Mods the car it will turn it to
sportwagon especially with 17"/18" rim , dark colour with full body
kits, upgrade the engine / turbo/ECU.... or get the V40 T4 with 200hps
again 2001 model are first choice for 2.0T but T4 only have 1999-
2000 model

since putting waja parts into a S40 is distasteful to this thread..
maybe we should suggest to waja owners into buying up half cut S40 and
upgrading their front end + drivetrain + suspension to a S40 ?

The only parts are sharing by both Volvo & Mitsubishi ( Proton ) are
only the under 1)carriages -suspension system , 2)chassis/platform
- engine mounts, Lower Arms, Anti Roll Bars.... others are not.

V406198,
Could you please provide me the Proton p/n of the rear top and bottom
bushes. Would like to replace my S40 rear suspension bushes.

Wait a minutes .... did i said before that the proton suspension
bushes can be used on our X40 ?...... i don't recommended it to use
proton parts ( even is comparetible ) as volvo original bushes are
almost cost as cheap as proton..only rm 120 for top & bottom. so
why take the risk,

Somethings are better off using the original ones... and some are quite OK
with performance parts.

with performance parts.

Hi Richard..
I just bought used S40 1999. Of course condition not as good as new car but I wish to make it at par. Under carriage sound really disturbing.
Gone tru both Autoworld Forum & VOCM. You hv vast skills and experiences.
Appreciate if you could guide me on how to get the cheapest means parts. Any contact? If you have a list of parts for reference, please email me at sronymn@gmail.com
FYI..I'm in Kuching
TQ
