Bro yeong,
Care to explain why 5 & 7 or any other-# conventional AT are lousy are bad ? Thanks.

Because Kai Forte only offer 4 and 6 speed, no 5 or 7 or 8 speed. Haha!

hahahahaha! ARSENAL he is right!! all nissan cars are useless and lousy smile_tongue.gif .... only his brand is superior. smile_thumbup.gif ... really fun reading his post. He sound pro but hm... if supporting with fact should be perfected but unfortunately....

fact like "Car with CVT gearbox if driven up and down and then up and down few times around Cameron Highlands to deliver sayur. vegetables and buah-buahan, you might get CVT temperature warning indicator." He may have spoken with those who live at Cameron, furthermore many of them.. smile_tongue.gif

In fact, Cameron Highlands was the first place in this country and for the first time, the first car with CVT gearbox got overheated and the car tester had to park besides the narrow road waiting for it to cool down. You didn't know that any new car brought in especially during testing stage, they would take to Cameron Highlands and several highways to tryout the compatibility and durability of the car.

feelfree,

Hyundai-Kia has come up with 8speed gearbox for their new luxury prototype. N-brand, only rely on JATCO to develop new gearbox and consider whether to get good quality gearbox or just go for cheap one enough for its model sold in Asia trying to cheat us kawkaw.

Latio, Lavina, XG still stucked at 4speed? Aiseh...

Hi Yeong,

Some new conventional gearbox no longer jerk nowadays. Can't even feel any when shifting from P to R or to D. Thanks to new tech, the conventional gearbox has much improvement.

some kia comments i found: (jay pls call these ppl crap)

Looks like Kia might have a Forte/Transmission problem? (As I know there was one other person on these forums that had to have a new tranmission installed.) Chalk up another 2010 Forte in need of a new transmission! At 6900 miles. I have a 2.0L EX. It was driving fine, then noticed it didn't seem to really be switching gears; from what I could tell (but still drove fine.) Then a day or so later stopped the vehicle at a light, and when I went to hit the gas it was like the car was in park. Didn't want to move. Hit the gas again and it sloooowly started moving forward, but as the speed went up it would on occasion sharply jerk forward. Then it did this at every stop. Hit the gas in drive, or reverse, either way; it wouldn't want to move. Took it in today, took them a while to figure it out - just called to let me know it needed a new transmission. They're going to get me some (better be free of charge!) transportation through Enterprise until the car is fixed, possibly tomorrow. I had a lot of friends tell me I should buy a Toyota; resale value, etc. But I really liked the Forte's looks, and wanted to give Kia a chance given they're trying to improve their image. And while I realize things happen, and hopefully this is a one time problem; along with the cheap scratchy interiors and such, I'm starting to feel like all my friends will soon be going "told you so!" I just bought my first new car with hopes that I wouldn't have to worry about breakdowns, etc. for quite some time, and I'm not feeling so safe right now. (But seriously, I still like it so far!...) My car is an automatic, just in case anyone was wondering.

Your transmission is toast - Pure and simple.

2011 Sorento EX,Transmission & Electrical Problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When driving along at any speed the transmission makes a reasonably loud thud. The vehicle goes into neutral and you immediately have to get off the road to avoid being rear ended as your speed drops right off.At the same time or just before ( it is hard to tell) the vehicles electric system shuts down and loses power to,clock,radio,heating/cooling system ( you have to reset everything ).The engine never quits.
Once you have pulled over for a few seconds you can continue. The transmission starts in first again.I have also tried shifting manually but it doesnt make any difference.
The vehicle does it any time or anywhere you cant seem to pinpoint it or make it do it.Dealer has been unable to locate the problem.Anyone have similar problems.

link:http://www.kia-forums.com/2011-xm-sorento-forum/60089-2011-sorento-ex-transmission-electrical-problem.html

Most of these gearboxes, no surprise, are still common to economy or older-generation cars. Chevrolet has eight models that offer four-speed automatics, Dodge seven, Toyota and Hyundai four, and Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and Subaru have several more (Ford has but one on the Focus, and Honda has none). Many, like on the Toyota Yaris, do their basic duty without fault.

But not on this Kia. Like the Soul — from which the Forte shares many components — the Forte's transmission suffers from wide ratio gaps that drain the power from the 156 horsepower four-cylinder. There's plenty of getup from the start, but even before reaching 40 mph, the transmission is too eager to upshift into fourth, where the revs drop to near idle. It's an obvious fuel-saving measure (an "ECO" indicator lights up on the tachometer) and desirable while cruising an open road or highway, but during midrange acceleration this behavior turns into a noisy, gear-hunting mess.

Dear forumers,

Below is an account of what's been happening to me since the delivery of my wife's car. (Forte 1.6SX). I know nothing else can be done and most of you are happy with what you got but this is just my story and I intend to share it. 3 mails to Client Management and this last one was to the service manager.

Cheers!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear sir,

I imagine you must be a busy man. So instead of trying to see you, I've resorted to writing you this email instead. Please do allow me a few moments to explain my intentions.

Including this email, it would have been my fourth mail to Naza-Kia. This is in regards to the car reg number WUC 86** registered to my wife. To cut the long story short, I'll list down briefly below the sequence of events since the collection of the said vehicle 2 months ago.

- Car collection
- Air conditioning failed
- Sent to service center in Old Klang Road.
- A problem with the compressor was identified.
- Told to resend vehicle to main service center as it would be difficult for them to file for claims.
- Re-sent said vehicle to Puchong Naza Kia Service Center.
- Car inspected for over 3 hours and was told that which we already know (note problem above).
- Car returned to us dirty and with hand prints all over.
- An official complaint was lodged and when asked how long this matter will take to resolve, your SA replied "1 week, 2 weeks, maybe more, I don't know"

***If you had to drive around in your brand new car with an air cond that doesn't work, how would you have reacted? To top that up, the very people who are in charged haven't got a clue as to when this problem can be resolved.

- Mail sent to Client Management Division (CMD) informing them of the situation and asked them to expedite the process.
- One month passed without any news or a single call from either CMD or the service center.
- Another reminder was sent to CMD in view of the urgency of the matter (and constant nagging from the wife)
- CMD representative called and said "We're sorry. We will look into it and get back to you as soon as possible when we have a date on the arrival of your ordered parts"
- Another 2 weeks have past and the call never came!
- After 1 and a 1/2 months of waiting, the part arrived and I was told to send the car in. Yes, I felt relieved despite the hassle.

***Not only was I not compensated in any way. I was treated with the least priority and zero apology from any of your service staff. Proverbs says "A gentle word turns away wrath". A simple "Don't worry sir, we'll solve your problem and throw in a car wash for you" would have suffice. Instead I got a "Can collect your car at 5pm, but if cannot then tomorrow la" I held my tongue and decided against lashing out on any of your staff because they were not to be held responsible for any of this to begin with. It is only to my best interest to have the matter resolved and I was glad that day was coming.[/i]

- Collected the car at 6pm but to my horror, not the slightest bit of improvement!
- Two technicians checked it out and agreed that nothing has changed although the entire compressor was changed!
- I was again told to drive home and bring the car back another day for a check up!

***Can you even begin to imagine my frustration at this point? Why was the first diagnosis wrong? Why did I have to wait more than a month for the warranty to take effect? Why does it take checks after checks only to discover that the problem was not the problem in the first place? Why was I asked time and again to travel back and forth to your service center?

- Without much choice, I dragged my feet on another more convenient morning down to the service center again.
- Was told, at the end of the day, that the problem was actually *some part name* (That's if they are not mistaken again)
- They again proceeded to lodge another complain and as expected, told me to return home and wait for the warranty approval from management.

If you had quickly read through the mail not having time to digest the intensity and severity of the ordeal I have been going through, here's a brief summary -

BRAND NEW CAR. HOT AIR CONDITIONING. SLOW, INDIFFERENT AND INEFFICIENT SERVICE. NO ASSURANCE, NO COMPENSATION OF ANY SORT DESPITE LOST OF TIME, SWEAT, SLEEP AND MONEY. PROBLEM STILL UNSOLVED AFTER 2 MONTHS. KIA, THE POWER TO SURPRISE!

And while my wife drives around, sweating in the car, as I continue to wait for "management approval" you read this from your air conditioned office room. I plead with you, good sir, DO SOMETHING!

Thanking you in advance.

Best Regards,
Jason Lee

Yeah, me too, I have been driving Honda, Toyota and Nissan, and what I can say is Toyota and Nissan having the most reliable car all these years, Honda, I don't know how to say about it, just maybe I was unlucky to get the problematic one because some of my friends driving Honda is ok, just some small problem from the suspension.
