I am interested to know if it is myths or truth about Bmw, Benz diesel cars will develop problems because of Malaysian diesel quality? Got some people said this was rumour started by Bmw for sales grabbing. Then I also heard Mercedes sales people also saying same things about Bmw. What about Toyota or Nissan or Mitsubishi suv who also used same common rail diesel principle engines? How come no rumours about them ah?

Agreed! is user problem. you may see a lots of big car breakdown on the highway not because of the quality of the car. It is because of the user that do not know how to take care their own car.

Any cars regardless of make or engine will need proper maintenance. Diesel engine is even more critical on the right grade of Engine Oil and timely drain interval that many users and outside workshop are not aware of.

Ya, I have been using conti cars for so many years! and now 2 diesel SUV for more than 3 yrs, doing more than 100k and 160k kms - still runing and fine, must have maintainence and not wait for it to break down b4 repairs. Diesel engine can easily last a lifespan of 500,000 kms!!! b4 the 1st overhaul if engine oil, oil filter, fuel and air filter are taken car of and change regularly or earlier if possible at 1/2 the recommended service schedule due to our dirty lousy diesel and driving envirolment and jam.

When I was in London for a while, I asked some of my relatives about their diesel car. Seem to be no problem and their euro 4 diesel is friendlier than M'sia diesel for the environment. I was impressed with their VW and Mercedes diesel cars and thinking of getting one next year.
