...well, don't you think the life of ur loved one sitting on the passenger side is as valuable as yours?
...

I can also ask you "don't you think the life of ur beloved children sitting at the back is valuable?" -- since it got a boot for rear collision impact. smile_tongue.gif

Fact is everything got it's pro & con. A matter of how you look at it.

simple......does the the J has ABS, EBD and 2 air bags?

Hi there, my reply may be a bit late...
V Jspec one driver airbag only, yes ABS, EBD (not so sure the website down now), if as per toyata's spec on website..

Hmm.. passanger is not so big concern also is safety to have both tongue.gif .. as most of de time i drive alone, KL city drive (1st car 6 years not more than 50K km..), my sis has vios full spec and of coz she strongly recommend take up vios since my budget is RM75K (loan 9 years >.<) and fuel & maintenance save.. I prefer smaller car as tak payah bawak manyak orang dan barang.. hehe.. (yes, no more local car, altho myvi is good)..

My sense(理性) is Vios, but sensibility (感性) is SS.. haha..

What worries me is after 3 years.. Altho from the record parts is expensive, but lack of parts imported is a problem within 3 free years?? Today i spent a day to read of SS forum, wow.. the more i read the more i scare.. there are many problems arising such as:-
1) steering rack/column rattling sound
2) Grok Grok or tak tak sound.. either fr rear under carriage (which i also dunno what la..), go road hump or uneven surcase, or take left turn or hit small holes on road..
3) funny smell (fishy) from air con when accelerate or each time start the car
4) engine noisy in the morning or weird sound when off engine
5) weird noise fr dashboard or engine compartment
6) rattle sound inside & outside the car
8) jerking idling sound (tak tau apa ni)
9) pedal vibrate when press brake on certain speed high speed more obvious
All these problem happens on SS either 2 weeks or before 3 years...

I do know most cars has problem too.. bit scare lo, as RM76K is not RM7.60... =_=||
Help.. help..
Many thanksssssss..

1) Cant really comment since some cars after 3 years never have steering rack issue
2) Due to short wheelbase or people change their tyre profile
3) change aircond filter
4) Engine noisier cuz higher idling rev to warm car up...weird noise when off engine cuz vacum sound
5) expecting the car to be bmw?
6) look at point 5
7?8?) tak tau apa ni jugak
9) ABS,its saves life

Dont expect this car to have super duper quality, its just a normal car with Malaysia's tax.

You must remember one thing,no matter what, forum is a place for people to voice out but sometimes the truth is far from it. You must also know as long as you maintain stock standard, you will have your warranty.

IAC valve problem - user change their stock air filter?
ignition coil problem - replace during warranty (wear and tear item)

Pick up not enough, step on throttle more or down shift the gear.

Every car has their own unique characteristic, and not every car is perfect. You buy a car because you like it,if you just think of it as investment or the worth then its better you go back to Toyota or Honda brand.

Go where what your heart want to buy

Every car has problem(s)
We even have BMW or Mercs friends having their car ending up in the workshop a couple of months after purchasing

Fact is everything got it's pro & con. A matter of how you look at it.

to survive from a nasty rear collision apart from long butt you need whiplash safety protection, to name a few...
longer body structure does not gurantee it is safer, we have to look at the steel composition used, design, reinforcement etc..
have a look below (caution: never try this with a viva smile_tongue.gif )
http://paultan.org/2...two-crash-test/

SS has adjustable rear headrests for proper support and useful for long distance journey
the new SS scores Euro NCAP 5 stars ratings for a compact car

Hi bluesoil,

If I were you, I'd go for SS since both cars have their own pros & cons. It's true, forums are places for people to voice up but that doesn't necessarily paint the real picture. There might be thousands of other good SS out there. Furthermore, no cars in this world is actually 'problem free'.. that's part & parcel of owning a car. You can go to all forums and they'll surely have problems with different car makes.

If you read the BMW forums, it's even scarier with the repair costs fetching thousands of RM but that doesn't reduce the number of bimmers on the road, does it?

I suggest you go for SS for the following:

1) Sportier looks and better handling (I assume you're still young & appreciate sporty car)
2) You don't need a boot now at least until you're married & have kids
3) SS have better presence feel since it's less common than Vios. With Vios, you might end up going to the wrong car at the carpark since there are so many with the same colors as well.
4) Your sister already has Vios, maybe you should drive a different car
5) SS has been accepted worldwide as a capable little hatchback.. even recognized by Top Gear & Fifth Gear but Vios is only in this region...

Those are just my 2 cents. Different people might have different views..

Can consider Ford Fiesta just a few k away.. but resale in future uncertain yet..
