I have a Hiace 2.5 manual and found it to be underpower. I am looking to drop a 1KD-FTV 3.0 into it but would like to know a few things.
1) I like to know since the 1KD-FTV 3.0 come with a turbo, can I replace the stock turbo with a T25 turbo and the price estimation? Refer attach link for 1KD-FTV with T25 turbo output
http://www.toymods.o...o-1KD-FTV-motor. that has some information on the 1KD-FTV with engine spec base on stock turbo and with the T25 Turbo.
2). If I will to replace the stock turbo with the T25 turbo kit, can the stock intercooler be use? What are the things that need to be replace or take extra care when doing the modification?
Looking forward to all replies from knowledgeable Sifus
Thank you

U are right. Thailand have 3 spec for the engine. 2KD-FTV has got 2 spec, one is with VNT and intercooler another one is without intercooler and vnt and the 2nd one is what we have for our Hiace. 1KD-FTV is with VNT and Intercooler. This is the one that is in the Hilux. I do not understand the reason behind on the part of UMW why they do not upgrade the Hiace with 1KD-FTV.
I don't know much on nissan urvan except i see that it is longer than the Hiace. IMO, i prefer Hiace but because of the underpower engine. I hated it also.
If there is anyone can offer some views and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is your TDI means Turbo Diesel Intercooler? The malaysia spec hiace is with turbo but no intercooler. I don't really understand how UMW think. I read in a lot of forum that mention a turbo without intercooler is no use as u will not feel the power cos the engine will be very hot without the intercooler and the engine cannot stand it. It is after I bought it and feeling the engine underpower which get me to search more information with regards to the turbo stuffs.
I carry passengers, therefore the more power I have better. I could feel the engine breathing hard when I accelerate. I do know some others who use urvan for passengers but I see they are able to pick up faster than me which is why I am frustrated by the underpower engine but I like the design of the van.
It is better to test both of them before confirm and not just bought it base on spec like I do and end up spitting saliva due to the underpower engine.

Anyway, if the turbo can not bossting high then it will not cost the engine to over heat (subject to the enigne build lah). but if w/ an Intercooler is always better whihc it help to give the engine run cooler. As here our weather is hotter then in Japan all year around. I think best is the mod the van w/ a OEM intercooler.... where in Thailand we should be able to find it easy then here?
Test drive? UMW seem dont give test drive @#$% & no discount for keen buyer!! Nissan they also dont hv a demo unit but the Saleman said can loan their company unit for test drive & offer good discount too. Ya agree as for the look the Hiace seem handsome then the Urvan.
also thks for the feedback about the Hiace!

Wah. Frankly, for that amount I would consider swap the engine to 1KD-FTV that come with intercooler and variable nozzle turbine which minimize the lag. Still the same questions any sifus to advise
