If add up the smaller backing plate, wouldn't the price shoot up to RM400+ already?
Also, 1,000rpm starting speed really is too high?
Yup..u hv to invest more on RB. diff Backing plate size, duo spur, diff size of pads ..

So does anyone actually have experience on the unit? Had a go without load on the unit yesterday. Seems like the speed dial doesn't have clicks like the Makita(or what I heard Makita has) but really no ideas whether it'll bog down as there's no way to try.

What about the noise?? Is it as loud as what most people say China brands are. That's really the only reason blocking me getting this first before Makita.. Come to think of it, do you think we detailers will be a bit deaf from all the machines??

Hi guys,
The Makita has clicks on its speed selector, while the Hitachi does not have.
If quality is a concern and the budget won't fit the Makita in, get at least the Hitachi which is priced around RM600.
With the Hitachi and Makita, their starting speed is 600RPM, which is good for guys who are new to rotary buffers. Both these machine won't bog down at these speeds also.
Their controlled and consistent speeds also helps you achieve more consistent results too because you can control the cut and pressure on the machine directly without figuring if the machine will bog down and deliver less results.
To me, it is worthwhile to get a good rotary buffer because of the results it can deliver. It is worth the extra cost

Wear ear plugs or those old large headphones to dampen the sound then......

Hm.. Consider that the price is RM300 fixed, is it really worth the premium over BoHai and FuQiang? Both which I saw going for RM139 and RM185 respectively at Mr. DIY outlets.
Was actually thinking of this as an alternative to the ROB in the form of the Bosch GEX-125AE considering that the price is VERY similar, of course, it's for DIY purposes only and not for business. Just trying out new detailing tools.
Haven't visit AW for a long while. Some how today itchy and went to check out (1) Bohai and (2) Fuqiang at Mr. DIY.
The prices are as GRexer mentioend, but Bohai is alot more noisier than Fuqiang. For the difference of RM 50, I would definitely go for Fuqiang.
However, I haven't tried out the Skil 9070 yet. It is RM 330 at Ace Hardware.

hi tploh, long time no see u post.
Fuqiang is used by raymondd here. Last time we had a RB test of bohai, fuqiang, makita, hitachi at my house. See the results of that test at fishbonezken blog.
I would say go for Fuqiang, better and comes with case, between fuqiang n Skil, hard to say, depends on ur importance on price or warranty support.
It's easy when you know how...

Meg's backing plate female thread size is M14, the older ones are M16. Same goes with polishing machine, newer models now comes with male M14 and older ones are M16. There shouldn't be any problems even if the size are either one as you can easily get an adapter for them. But it would be more convenient if both are with the same thread size. I'd suggest you get some info on them from the particular seller before your doing purchase.
