"Heel-n-toe" like bro rallychamp mention is a great technique to do braking and engine braking at the same time.
If done properly,it will be so smooth instead of a surge of rev causing weight being transferred to the front and disturbing comfort and balance during cornering.
Corner will also feels like straight and soon u wont believe the speed u took a corner.
If u are used to your car,u will instinctively know the suitable rev to match with the suitable gear.

Heel-toe is useful even in normal driving situations. The whole idea of heel-toeing is to match your engine and wheel rotation speeds. This makes your downshifts feel smooth to passengers and actually minimizes wear & tear in your transmission components.

Bro Gunnerzz
Can you tell me more about "heel-n-toe" and how it works exactly. Btw, I don't rev to redline..I just read about some forumers talking about it. My aim is to have a smooth yet spirited drive.

When downshifting gears in a manual transmission vehicle, it is advisable to bring up your engine revs to match your wheel speed. This is what they call blipping the throttle. After stepping on the clutch and slotting into the lower gear, you should step on the accelerator first, and then release the clutch as the revs go up.

But when you're downshifting on braking, you'll still need your foot on the brakes as you clutch in and downshift. The technique is to pivot your foot on the brake pedal and use your heel to blip the accelerator. Once the revs go up, release the clutch.

I'm just trying to imaging putting my toe and heel on both pedals. I guess in this case, smaller feet are better?
When you say blip the accelerator, you mean revv a little while your toe is still hitting the brake?
Does this work the same on auto tranny?

U hav the right picture about heel-n-toe.
U cant heel-n-toe in auto tranny bcoz there is no clutch to disconnect the engine from the gearbox.
If u do it,u will accelerate instead of slowing down.

The pedal position and your seating position is the major factor when doing heel-toe.
My feet is not in the small category but i can do it comfortably with the Neo CPS.
What u wear on your foot is also important.

Don't think i will get the chance to try it. Guess its still brake and downshift for my auto.

The finger thing is faster but one forumner mentioned that too much finger action will cause the gb to overheat and go into safe mode by shutting the engine off.

Now,the above sentence will lure SF in to post a reply when he read about the 'finger' part smile_tongue.gif
