Ppl always compare Korean cars to the Japs. What about compare them to P1 and P2 ? What's your take about their reliability, QC, resale value, technologies, etc ? Cheers.

Proton is no way to compare with korean or japanese.
2nd hand value for proton is also bad.
Quality no need to say. For worst of dream is the proton waja first batch. Problematic car to me.

For eg. Proton waja 2005 sell only RM 30k . When bought is about RM 60k.

about 10 yrs ago when P1 was designing some of their new models they want to use japanese as benchmark bcoz they boasted they were already on par with the koreans.....now smile_sleepy.gif
congrats P1, complacency due to gov. protection leaves you pretty much the same 10 yrs ago or so...

new sonata 6 speed GB can last as long as the car's life...ATF only require to change at 300K km under normal usage
perdana V6 GB last shorter than the battery smile_dead.gif

darreltian,
I agree with you regarding the Perdana V6 gearbox.
For new PV6 buyers (2010), it's advisable to install ATF Coolers upon purchase.
These said ATF Coolers might save and extend your gearbox lifetime.
Change your ATF regularly as scheduled with genuine Proton oils.
During driving, try to maintain at normal driving speed, because stressing the gearbox at high speeds will shorten it's lifespan.
I had a few of my friends still owning a PV6, and the problems are all the same... "faulty gearbox...".
Proton should concentrate in making small cars and let the Americans, Europeans, Japanese and Koreans build big and safer quality cars.

100% correct. They din not think japanese car are overpriced. Resale value is so so only. But their maintaning fees are high.

Damn 2nd hand car dealer tell my friends not to buy korean car because value too low.

When i ask him about a hyundai getz in his shop, he said the car maintain very well. No problem at all. KOrean car very good at body solidness.
He "eat" the car with high price. Then want to sell high price.
Then got another time at another shop my family want to sell kia sephia at to a dealer, we ask how much can sell. The owner tell us no value , but their shop selling the car with high price. Damn.
Celaka punya dealer.........

Got also a time my sister sold her toyota seg 1992 model RM 9000 at 2008. The dealer said this is the best price he can give.
No more value. Japanese carler brother.... I tell him. He said times are bad, and no more loan for old car.
Then few days later, he sold to a customer, that concidently my dad's friends at RM 15000.
So what to said .
Then my sister buy from a new honda civic 2.0 at RM 128 800 from honda. The sales person said honda car 2nd value very good. MY sister is the ppl who like "face".
After recently, she want to sold her car. Ask the honda how much can trade in to change to honda stream. Then RM 95k the most she can get. If not trade in RM 90k ++ from outside dealer.
About 2nd hand value, the dealer said market are bad, selling 2nd hand car very hard.
Loan interest for 2nd hand car high.

What the story tell us? Japan car also no value.
Selling japan car is using gimmick. Just tell others that others make no value. Then the "smart" people will buy the japanese car.

thats why i always sell my car to direct owner, win-win strategy (i get more, buyer saved more)....because i can't stand hearing the total crap from second hand dealer.....why let them earn the super normal profit???? smile_angry.gif

second hand dealers are also the major reason for the "bad image" on korean cars....because they talk kok a lots...
