Jay, the Lancer rides on 18' dognuts right? How much does the tyres cost? One of my fren wanted to get the Lancer but he was told that each tyres cost about RM800 per piece, got scared.

Hi Karim,

MMC already replaced the V- cooler in the CVT transmission in 2008. Still have such CVT overheating prob? There's no prob in my colleagues' 08 Lancer. He revv it real hard and long, throwing it around corner, highway & proving ground, driving it for 6hrs no overheat prob.

NVH issue? Can only hear the engine roar while road noise is like Altis if minus the engine sound.

Huh!!!!! smile_shock.gif The road noise of the Lancer GT is like Altis???? How long have you not dig your ears????? smile_big.gif As far as I can remember from the test drives of the Altis and Lancer GT, the Altis fares so much better and serene than the Lancer GT. I really have to extend my deepest condolence to all the Altis owners if the Altis NVH is on par with the Lancer GT (which is one of Altis main selling points). blink.gif

If I did not remember correctly, the Lancer GT is shodded with the Yokohama Advan tyres. I think they are semi-slicks, so it would be quite costly. The 18" Falken 522 or 912 is cheap mah. Definitely less than RM400 per piece. But for tyres, what u get is what u pay for.

Time to Autofoam it... smile_big.gif

Desmond will welcome you with open arms. Lancer GT club members and Civic club members are his favourites. smile_big.gif Yes, have to admit that the autofoam did some wonders to reduce the lousy NVH for my FD.

Hi cfa,

That's right. For 18" wheels RM800 per piece. If wanted to go for GT, they provide options to give you money to buy smaller rims in return, you give them your 18" stock rims. That will get less headache with smaller 16" or 17". They'll be very happy to get your 18" rims coz they can sell it to outsider or keep it as spares for future sales.

Hi Miki Mao the Lidiman sunyatsen,

If you replace the engine with Altis engine in the Lancer, the NVH is quite similar. Else, when not stepping on pedal on highway, when the engine is not roaring, you take note on its NVH. Just same as Altis.

Handling will not be as good as 18' if you swap to only 16' or even 17'. What abt warranty, void cos its not factory specs any more. But I agree, if i am yje sales man, I would swap 18' rims for 16' anytime. 18' rims cost a bomb.

err...
fyi...it is indeed an 18 inch wheel...with Yoko Advan A10 rubber.
but it's not slick tyre one lah...
The size also a bit weird...
The performance of these tyres are good...only the sound a bit loud...some say...
these OEM 18 inch tyre, of course a bit expensive and quite hard to find...
there's always a better one out there with much cheaper price...

sunyatsen,
the ATF Cooler does come together starting from 2nd or 3rd batch...
only some of the earliest one doesn't have the cooler...
now some of the owners even add other ATF cooler together with OEM one but some of them still
experience the "slowdown" warning...
it's not because of overheating...it's the CVT itself protecting it from damage...
