Currently i'm thinking whether which to choose
maybe you all can give some valuable feedback
in term of :
- Reliability - imported car somehow have better quality than local made
- Value for money - u paid less for a imported car than paying for a local made
- cost of maintenance - service every 10000km for lancer compared to 5000km on civic
- fuel consumption - cvt gives optimum fc...
- resale value - i sold a cust car 07 gt for 94k, cist bought from me in 07 for 116l
- handlling - just try n u know which is better
- n etc
thks for your input in advance..

What is the cost of maintenance for every 10,000km and fuel consumption (city drive & highway- km/l).
Most of my friends who got the Lancer attributed the looks and the price of the Lancer as main factors swaying their purchase decision. By the way, u need need to spend quite a lot to alter the looks of a Civic FD to the Type R compare to a Lancer GT to the Evolution.
Both cars have similar problem especially the NVH. Ask Desmond of KL Auto, what are his favourite car clubs??

the most important thing is...
which one you like...
test drive both cars, and you decide by your own...
from what i've been reading in the net...most people said they are on par...
same hp, but different torque...
the looks...depends...
maintenance, now Lancer no more free service...only free labour...
Civic, I dont know...
the only let down for Lancer (for me) is the "slowdown" warning...
cannot maintain high speed for long time ( 200kmh ++ )
on tiptronic, 1st gear, Lancer - you can whack till redline and the gear will not upshift to 2nd gear if you dont upshift...
just like normal manual transmission.
on Civic - it will upshift automatically...even in tiptronic...
me like the looks...and don't even care if proton will rebadge it as Waja in the future...
been driving kereta buruk for a long time...and once got this Lancer, dont care what people says...
hehehe...

Hi Karim,
Last time the lancer comes with free comprehensive service for how long?
The new lancer GT now uses CVT gearbox and that explains why u can't maintain high speed at long time due to overheating issue
NVH, GT is slightly better than Civic but both also cannot beat Sylphy or 407
My heart still goes for the GT

Any opinion from you after test driving a few models of your interest?
hmm...still not confirm coz maybe thinking to go for 407 since the price almost the same

free service (zero payment) until 50k...
after that no more...
about the CVT "slowdown" issue, I dont think it's not the overheating that cause the warning...
It's the CVT itself...being overprotected...
doesnt matter la...it's not that you wanna drive that fast always...
on NVH issue...
I have no comment on that...I only drove Civic once...cannot remember so much details...hehehe...
then,
"My heart still goes for the GT wub.gif"
just go ahead and book one...

Hi Karim,
MMC already replaced the V- cooler in the CVT transmission in 2008. Still have such CVT overheating prob? There's no prob in my colleagues' 08 Lancer. He revv it real hard and long, throwing it around corner, highway & proving ground, driving it for 6hrs no overheat prob.
NVH issue? Can only hear the engine roar while road noise is like Altis if minus the engine sound.
