but u have to remember that if the optima were selling at RM110 while 135 for camry
after 5 years
Optima RM110K - RM55K = RM55K 50% value
Camry RM135K - RM55K = RM80K 59% value
above i would say based on used car prices. so u can see jap car is holding 10% higher in RV and is fast moving while optima will move slow.
while those whom bought the 08 optima promotion at RM90k is quite ok. but how about those whom bought at RM110k, it will definatly affect them when they wana dispose the vehicle.

Camry 2.0E is already RM141k OTR.
Using this (and current Optima pricing) with a RM55k drop in price:
Optima RM89k - RM55k = RM34k 39% residual
Camry RM141k - RM55k = RM86k 60% residual
Of course, a good condition Optima will NEVER be RM34k. If the Optima has a 60% residual, it will sell at RM54k 2nd hand. Do you think it can be sold at that price or at a price closer to RM34k?

if u are comparing the promo price of RM89k then of course it looks more attractive now and it is also to compensate the year make of 08 and technically u use for 5 years but is a 6 year old car.
and how about those buying at RM110k, surely they won'y be happy. is the same case as chevrolet.

It's a 2007 manufactured car actually. None were manufactured in 2008.
All figures given are hypothetical. Nobody can claim to know the future. I just know what for the asking price and taking into account the manufacture year, the Optima represents stonking value.
Only for those who do not want their cars to be stolen from their car porches in the middle of the night

Optima a quite tempting. Realy getting itchy.
Checked with Sales outlet in Batu Caves and the Manager confirm that it's 2008.
Any idea on the Engine and what is the hp. Where can get more info?

Google for "Hyundai theta engine"
Ask for paperwork to state that it is 2008. I have fairly reliable sources that tell me that only 1 batch was assembled and in 2007.

Any news on new Optima with front looks little like Subaru style? Heard it has dual valve timing for even greater FC. That'll impressed me if true. Theta series engine is actually rebadged Mitsu 4B11 tuned little lower for better FC but still perform great as it has good pulling power (torque).
Hi HKLau,
Regarding the current Optima that NazaKia is selling, how is the FC like? Handling and technical sure ok as it's Mitsubishi, no worry on that. Have tested them myself on its cousin the Sonata NF 2.4L. Just wanted to know how's the FC of Optima 2.0?
Hi Pulltea,
Great comment on the resale value.. Yes, Optima is truly value buy. I would prefer affordable but superb cars with large interior. Forte and new facelift Optima, both very nice!!

I do not know why there are still repeated link to Mitsubishi when people talk about Hyundai. The only common part is the Theta engine which is co-designed between Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Hyundai - not a Mitsubishi engine borrowed by Hyundai.
I would be worried if Hyundai had the same mechanicals as a Mitsubishi. After all, Mitsubishi is not ranked anywhere as its Japanese peers when it comes to technological prowess or reliability.
Yes, Hyundai started off with Mitsubishi input and their first cars were essentially Mitsubishi cars done up the Korean way but now, things have progressed very far.
Hyundai-Kia have come a long way from the early days. They are already in the top 5 global manufacturers. Let's give them some credit.
