Hi all,
Any body out there know what is the correct part number for Ulysse 2.0
16v EL FAN BELT. I am using Dayco 6PK1730 but mechanic told me the belt
possibly wrong(seems like too long).
I don't have the owner manual(which I think good to have one) to check.
I appreciate if anybody can answer this.

I dont think the owners manual tells u the part number. But u can try the
spare parts shop or call Torino and ask for the part number 0341071337.
Might cost in the range of RM300.

Kulim,
I am also looking at this item. The spec should be 6CBK 1705. Looks like
your mechanic was right. 1730 is longer. Try getting it from "Lemforder"
in the Citroen and Peugeot forums. He supplies parts. I believe its less
than RM100. The brand or make of the belt is ContiTech or Conti something.

I am also planning to change this since its > 5 years and > 80k km now.

tsunami,
you are right. mechanic told me the spec isn't mentioned in the manual.

bm_dp,
I used 6PK1710 and the problem solved. It cost me rm75 not include labour
charge.

Kulim,
Godd to hear that you have solve your problem. Not sure why yours 1710 in
length and mine is 1705 (quoted by parts supplier). Anyway, difference in
5 mm would be taken up by the tensioner. Out of curiosity, can you share
with us the following:
1) The make/brand of the blet you have fitted
2) The labour cost to fit
3) How long did the job take

Thanks.

1)fan belt brand: dayco 6PK1710 (common with evasion 16v)
2)labour cost RM60
3)takes about 1/2hour

fiat, alfa an others italian cars.

tazztham,
to be frank, i don't think i am the right person to answer yr question on
diff between ulysse,c8 & 807. maybe other members can provide some info?

however my 2001 ulysse 2.0 EL i just bought it 3months ago, i think it is
a comfortable and reliable mpv(so far). i am satisfied.
regarding the part, actually the mechanic find it for me. i think you
need to find the right mechanic to do yr fiat

Kulim, Tazz,
I have also just bought a used 2001 Ulysse (A) about 4 mths now. In
response to your questions and for the benefit of the others

1) Reliability - engine wise no complaint. No kacau here (so far lah..)
Engine is the same as Citroen C5, C8, Synergie (16V), Peugeot 806 (16V),
807, 407, 406-D9 models.

2) AT gearbox is the one you have to watch out. Should shift smoothly and
not clucking and have loud noise when gear changing. This GB is code
nameed AL4 (jointly developed by PSA Peugeot, Citroen and Renault). That
is why you will this same gearbox in their cars > year 2000/2001. Eg,
Renault Espace 2001, Kangoo 1.4, Citroen C5, C8, Synergie, Peugeot 407,
807, 806, 206).

3) This MPV is jointly developed by Fiat, Peugeot & Citroen. They are 90%
the same parts. Therefore, part can be interchange, remember I said 90%,
there is still a 10% chance that can go wrong without the actual part in
hand to show to the spare parts seller.

4) For yours and mine, our 16V engine is same engine that is used in C8,
807 & Ulysse Nuovo (aka Ulysse II). This is a PSA Peugeot engine, code
named EW10J4 (2.0 litre petrol 16V DOHC, Magneti Marelli Multipoint EFI).
The older 8V engine is from Citroen (ZX, 306, 406-D8) or more or less.

5) So far I have change the timing belt kit. Bought the part meant for PSA
Citroen car. It fits. Its been 3.5 mths, no issues.

6) Basically, this is a French engine and GB with a Fiat body.

The above info should be helpful when sourcing for parts during
maintenance repairs. Otherwise, if in doubt, always fallback to the local
distributor. Hope this helps.

thank u very much for your great info. i can see you has been digging
for such an info. oh...so u are having the ulysse I with 16V engine?

isn't it for citroen they called it Evasion? so it is a peugeot engine
with italian fuel system...hmmm what a mix. in other words, the 2.0 16V
engine for current models as well and should be problem getting parts
right?

i am looking for ulysse II which i think 2003 and above right? it should
be sharing the same engine as yours.

if u got more info, pls let me know.
