thnks bro for u kindly invitation...i at skudai area.....just curious to know did anyone change the original air filter to K&N air filter? is it better? how much it cost?

hi bro,

there is basically 2 type of K & N airfilter.

1) open port - the cone like shape, some come with cover/braket some not.need to remove the original box. need a rubber hose to connect back to air intake hose (the blue colour in the picture/link)

the only problem is the irritating wooossssh/hissing sound when rpm reaching 2000 and will disappear once reach 3000rpm. it cost me rm350 for the K&N and rm100 for the hose.

2) drop in filter, same size and dimension with the original original filter and does not need removal of the original air box.cost about rm300 to rm350. and no irritating sound.

http://www.knfilters...px?Prod=33-2834

can be found at speedwork, part no 33-2834

Both can give a good power increase at high end, the only problem is at lower rpm where the engine can be a bit hesitate if you are using the original ECU map.

thx bro,

for the inform, but wat is the ECU map.... smile_question.gif smile_question.gif

hi bro,

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Chip_tuning

when we replace to K & N air filter, more air goes to the engine, i'm not sure why or how but at lower rpm the engine not responsive/very hesitate. same thing when we remove diesel particulate filter, change turbo hose to stainless steel, bigger turbo, straight pipe or other upgrade on car, the balance of air, fuel, diesel, timing will be disturb. to get an improve result after any upgrade is to remap back the ecu.

If you prefer quiet and smooth driving, you may not like the effect from changing to K&N. Slower driver like me is happy with its original performance, smoother and quietness... hehehe

We will be arranging for a group buy on routine maintenance parts, perhaps you can order together then. I will be posting the details soon.

The reason I change to K&N previously because the price quote for original airfilter is some where rm130 to rm150. you will be surprise how much bro rx270xdi can get for you.

rexton suck so much air that I need to clean the K&N almost every month or 5000km!!ha ha ha
