Hi guys, is anyone out there interested in getting into slot car racing? This was, at one time back in the 60's, a very hot hobby/sport, especially in the Klang Valley where commercial raceways abounded. Sadly, due to ever increasing costs (motor racing, whether in 1:1 or smaller scale, will never be cheap!) the hobby gradually died with the closure of the last raceway in 1970. Some of those diehards refused to give up model car racing and got started in r/c cars. However, some of these guys have now turned a full circle and have picked up slot car racing again.

The cars and equipment available now are quite an improvement over those of yesteryears, both in quality and presentation. Most cars available now, mainly in 1/32 scale, are in Ready-To-Run (RTR) form where you go to the shop, pick the car you fancy, put your hard-earned cash on the table and you are ready to go racing! There are complete home racing sets for those who want to enjoy the hobby in the comfort of their homes. But as in full-size motor racing, the essence of the game is competition - trying to prove that you can drive faster and better than the next guy. So with this in mind, some of us have got together and formed an informal group and have put up a sort of permanent track laid out on a built-up base where we can go and race our little 1/32 scale model cars every weekend. As I have stated in the topic description, we are just a small group and for us to maximise our enjoyment of the hobby, we need more racing enthusiasts to take up this hobby and race with us. So if there are any of you out there who have a yen for speed but do not want to risk life and limb, give this hobby/sport a chance to whet your appetite - it won't cost you an arm and a leg (there are a couple of shops in KL and PJ selling slot cars and lots of online shops on the Net to choose from). Anyone needing any info or help to get started are welcome to contact me through this forum. smile_thumbup.gif
