Hi fellow Wish owners,

If I buy a unregistered "recon" Wish from Naza or other dealers, where can I service the Wish?
I'm sure UMW Toyota workshops will not accept, right?

UMW does not accept recon Toyotas which I have tried to send it my car for service a couple yrs ago , but authorise Toyota dealer(for example like the Toyota 3S dealer in SP) will take your car for service or repair.

I am planning 2 get a wish too. So I am in progress of looking up some useful info etc. Actually I got a friend who got a wish last year. if not mistaken it is 05year from one dealer in kajang. he tells me it is new not recon.

therefore i am puzzle. aren't all wish recon from jp ? how can it be new ? he said it is new cause it was not driven. it was left in warehouse or port for 5 yrs......so consider new.

is this true ? are there any wish like this ? totally new and not recon ?

wish with ap got two types, recon used and recon new. probably ur fren bought the new model, which means never in use before in japs. pls spend extra time of searching history of the vehicle you intend to buy (get the copy of ap/other relevant docs) before deciding to buy..dun trust the SA 100%..

I think your fren bought that model is WALD version. Do we remember, once a time WALD are very famous & growing.
But due to AP and Tax issue, they forced to shutdown. All they car include, VW Polo, GTI, Toureg, Wish, Honda Edix, and Toyota ISIS.

All the cars is new, but it left in the port for 5 years. I hope this will answer your question.

Last weekend, I went to NAZA and asked them why they don't have Wish 2.0. The salesmen told me that, 2.0 engine is a fail engine that come with a lot of problems.

If there is any onwer out there with 2.0, kindly share your view.

I think your fren bought that model is WALD version. Do we remember, once a time WALD are very famous & growing.
But due to AP and Tax issue, they forced to shutdown. All they car include, VW Polo, GTI, Toureg, Wish, Honda Edix, and Toyota ISIS.

not sure about the engine problem, but the owner of the service shop I go told me that Wish 2.0 Cvt gear box cost alot to maintain, it cost around RM600 for just replacing the gearbox fluid... I'm not sure the info I heard is true or not, the recon/import Wish 2.0l comes with D-4 engine, but I'm not sure if it's the same as the latest Dual-VVTi 2.0l engine equip on Altiz in some countries like Taiwan which should be no problem at all....

I'm interested to get the Wish car which was left in the port for 5 years. However, I wonder what will be car condition if it is not used for 5 years. Anyone has bought tis category of car ? Any comment on the car conditions ? Thanks !

that kind information is misleading lah. the 2.0 engine used in previous model Wish (ANE10) is actually a similar engine used in Camry 2.0 and has been around for almost 10 years with good realibility. otherwise, camry wont be the best seller in its class now.

D4 means direct injection (D4-D for diesel). there were some wish D4 and Camry D4 brought in as grey imports but were known to suffer from our petrol quality which are not compatible for Toyota direct injection.
* not sure though how VW's FSI in Passat or Golf or Mitsubishi Grandis GDI survived.

the current 2nd gen Wish uses CVT gearbox in top specs but nowadays Toyota's ATF fluid do last for a very long time. very and very long time. even the new Vios ATF change is now at 80,000km (due to malaysia hot weather but actually can go 160,000km @ 100,000 miles)

the D4 i mean is the petrol one, which should be the same as Caldina's 2.0na engine... 1st gen Wish D4 2.0 equip with cvt also...

ok, guys correct me if i am wrong.

1. recon used - understood
2. recon new - why called recon in the first place if it is new ?

i am interested in a new wish which had not been used b4 but very sceptical whether there r actually exist in d first place. like someone had pointed out even if car left in port for 5 yrs........is there a possibility ? or a story created by dealers ? who would leave his car or money in d port for 5 yrs. the dealer would had cash flow problem ...... bankrupt etc. if new directly import from jp, then shouldn't it be new.......no recon stamped ?

i check d new wish at toyota.co.jp n price not very expensive.....<80k only. so add up sales tax, duty etc......perhaps 110+......reasonable. so why call recon ?

i agreed have to really study n research on this. thats why i want 2 get some advice from wish owner. I am very sure my fren wish is not a wald version. just a standard one. if not mistaken no reverse camera....so not full spec and no body kit etc. i kept asking why so expensive......close to 120k and yet naza ad lately advertise 106k++

for "recon new", I think dealers and most of the people has get used to call import cars as recon already...no matter it's new or what... and also, the company "Wald" has lots of car stuck at the port in M'sia has already gone bankrupt I believe...
