
Is 1997 1.6cc Lancer A Good Buy?

i am planning to buy a 1997 1.6cc lancer. pls comment on the :
1) reliability
2) maintenance and things to watch out?
3) cost for upgrading the exterior to evo 5/6
4) fc
5) overall the comfort and fun in the ride
appreaciate all ur comments. i have around 2-3 hrs journey daily in the car. just wanna hear and feel a mitsubishi. thanks

the car is imported as a recond (normally), and it is rare. even though rare it may be, but exciting not as it is not the evolution version famous from WRC.
i suggest push the car lower than 40K (to be reasonable) and budget another 20K to upgrade the exterior. this does not include engine conversion yet.
if i am not mistaken, the engine is the same 4G18 unit with 103bhp fitted in first CF1 Waja, but it may use INVECS III with tiptronic function.
after calculating all these, u may want to buy the original GSR evolution 4/5/6. saves u the time and u get the real thing.

thanks for the feedback. actually i plan to buy this car in Brunei that cost me only BD7k that is about RM16k. i'm working in Brunei but staying in Miri. so far can only afford to buy this cash cause don't plan to buy any fancy car since economy not good. fyi an evo8 is around BD40k and a GTR35 is about BD130k only... that is why i am NOT buying any car locally. sad to see my money going nowhere but to "someone"'s pocket... sigh

nowadays its kinda hard to get high loan for more than 10yo car.. you can get loan but need to prepare 10-15K downpayment... unles u pay cash..
