esmady,

you managed to get a discount of 20k for your car? i thought the price
was fixed at 189k. unless yours was a showroom model, all s40 owners
should be pretty aggreived if they are giving that kind of discount so
early on.

yeap, 5k for a sub,
but actually the sub cost arround 3k, 2k for accessories + others (u know
fiber optics things)
it's a active with amp, since it's using MOST, all the control (on/off,
volume etc) using the Standard Control Panel.
If i'm not mistaken, the S40 is using Harman Kardon group for the speakers,
including the Sub.
Probably next TT, i can join and let u hear it.

Shouldn't have mentioned the discount in public. It will only cause misery
to existing owners.

There were several units of 2004 manufactured S40s which were sold at VERY
attractive prices. FAC had 2 dawn blues sold, SM had a couple of blacks, a
silver and a blackcurrant.

Hey bro,
i got the same problem wif the allignment. it pulls to the left all the
time and u get a kind of floating sensation in a high speed cruise as u
try to restrain the left drift. Pls get it checked and post the outcome
here.I got mine from SM 3 months ago and the allignment has since then
been adjusted 3 times. I am still not satisfied ...It has touched 8k in
mileage and slight disproportionate wearing out is visible at the front
passenger tyre. Another fault is the sudden jerking i get as the car
decreases to a near halt before it picks up the speed again. I was told
it happens to all S40.
Any advice out there?

Toffee,

The insulation of the Volvo S40 I must admit is very bad. Even when you
turn on the volume, the whole street will hear from outside.

It is also this that I think the car feels faster at certain speed. When
driving 100km/h, I feel as though I am travelling at 140. Maybe the poor
insulation (outside noise and wind) makes you feel the sensation of speed
more. Anybody experiencing this?

Has anyone tried aftermarket products for the sound system? I am looking
at having it done by bypassing the MOST system.

Because for 5k, anyone can probably get many times better sound system
but of course, there's no risk of jeopardizing the car system.

I get the sudden jerking as well. I have read other international forums
and it seems that this is a common problem.

I also read that a new software is out to rectify this problem and did
check with dealer here. I was told to be expecting this software in a
month's time or so.

Gaz,

Need to strip the car to see the floating dash has an external box for RCA-
preout, otherwise, have to re-wire the speaker output cables.

Hi,
there's a couple of rca preout, located at the amplifier (behind on left
side), if u have the knowledge, sure u can work out of it, need to run the
power cable, get the right power-switch to work with the subwoofer amp (i
have the detail diagram on this thing), but for me it's not worth doing it.
the built in subwoofer take much lesser space and i can control it using
the center console. perhaps once the warranty is over, then i think i'm
more willing to be more adventurous with my car Big Smile

Foo,

Actually I am just waiting for that. The reason I hesitated is because I
am still choosing my setup and prefer to strip when doing sound proofing
rather than strip many times over.

Rewiring the speaker cables were they way I was looking at but thank to
majohari, maybe now I can work out a different way. Gotta talk to my
installer about it.

Manjohari, do you mind emailing me the detail diagram? gaz7788@gmail.com

Thanks. BTW, I can still control using my center console, am installing a
pre-amp to do that.

It is just too ugly to install a HU nor can I find a place to put it.

I was thinking of waiting for warranty to expire, but 3 years is just too
long, and I think if handled properly, it shouldn't cause any problems.

sub woofer before actually ordering one for myself...if its possible may
