Today finally managed to find one shop in
Penang Island who has the actual machine to do proper on wheel balancing
for the front tyre.. Owner is a old chinese chap. Quite frendly. Ah Eng.

My old Kancil steering wheel shakes when speeds hit 80km/h and above..
The constant rattle caused major issue on the steering rack. Replaced the
steering rack as the steering feel was no longer tight.

All 4 wheels were first aligned using machine. Then the front 2 were
aligned again when all 4 wheels were installed. Front wheels were jacked
up one side at a time. The jack used had a sensor which is attached to a
wheel spinning unit. Weights that were added during the off wheels were
not touched but other weights were added and readjusted to minimise body
vibrations..

End result: Test run up to 110km/h without feeling any vibrations on the
steering wheel. Cost RM40. Well worth $$ for the time taken and the
results...I must add that not many tyre shops are willing to do on wheel
balancing as it is space and time consuming. This guy has 2 shoplots!

Syarikat Tat Eng Tayar Dan Bateri
422 & 416, Jalan Jelutong, 11600 Penang
Tel: 04-2826306

to expand further:

"The jack used had a sensor which is attached via com cables to a
computerised wheel spinning unit."

The first time I have done on wheel alignment was with my waja in an old
tyre shop in Sepang.. The only difference is that this guy marks the tyre
with a masking tape before the process starts is more accurate placing
the additional weights. It only took him less than 10 mins for 2 wheels.

If you'll check 'mych" postings elsewhere in the other forums, he just
like to list the technical aspects of the operations. I think his dad just
got a 240/940, so he's quite genuine.
