240 temp/aircond woes
Posted 29 January 2005 - 09:57 PM
full csale (1/4) only when the engine is running without aircond.. but when
i switch on the aircond, the temp will slightly increase... and in traffic
jam, it will be as high as half of the scale (1/2)... sometimes i'm too
scary and keep the thermostat to the hottest region (to minimize the time
compressor on).... is this normal to have temp increases when aircond is
used??? juzz asking.... or do i need to 'cuci radiator' ?? coz it was neber
been done.... ehehehehe....

before. 240s should not overheat. If it does, something's wrong. I note
that the temperatures as stated by you appears to be within the "normal"
range. If the temperature goes above the halfway mark, I'll be worried.

as high as more than half!! usually in traffic jam, and with aircond on,
the temp will rise up and rise... we have to switch off the aircond, then
the temp will went down back.... after having a new compressor, temp
increase also but not as high as the old compressor... all this happen just
when we switch on the aircond... if no airond, the engine really cool...

Have you check the fan for the air cond condenser in the bonnet?
It could be that the fan is not running, and causing the temperature
Just my 2 cents.

condenser with water, just spray using garder water sprayer.
If the problem remain unsolved, check the coolant sensor going to the
gauge. If bad, replace and flush the coolant.

by engine) behind the radiator.... confused right now...???

just go to the next possibility.

eheheheh.. 240 dont have that fan la (but some people add it)... ok2... by
the way, tq

another possible area to look out is the fan oil inside the fan (center)
hub..it was filled with special oil which control the fan's rotation.. i
think u need to change it since ur car has been more than 10 years old..
when ur engine is hot, the oil will dampen the fan and make heavy spin,
then when ur engine is below the operating tempreture, the oil will make
light spin. this oil is used to control the engine tempreture instead of
thermostat and the radiator...consider it as part of cooling system..
ok.. just try to help!

That's called a vicosity fan. Found in most continental cars. To install a
new unit, you have to puncture the casing (there's a pin somewhere) to
allow the gel to flow.
