actully considering a Freelander TD4 (new 2006 version??), was wondering
if any owners have had a bad experience owning one previously?

what are the Freelander good points & bad points...i.e maintenance,
reliability, running cost, etc...etc...

many thanks in advance....rgds

I have been driving mine for one and the half years now. I like it the
way it handles the wet road and also the torque which it has. Go for it
no regrets. Maintainance is a bit on the high side(servicing cost) but
who cares as long as you love it.

ok. many thanks for the feedback....
just that I've read in a few LR owners forum that present owners (not 1
but many) have encountered numerous problems with the FL1.

just trying to be cautious before I commit on 1...Big Smile

They had made improvements since then. Don't get the 1.8L rover engine.

hi there..I am using TD4 Diesel Turb0, bought on 2006.....done 40 000 km

last week I changed my aircon compressor (FOC still under warranty by Land
Rover, market price around RM5000) , changed my brakes pad twice oledi.

Soo far so good, fuel ecconomy n engine performance 2 thumbs up, best of
all is d tiptronic gear shift....

Note .. pls never leave ur key inside even tho the engine is running... or
u will risk breaking the windows if the car super power locked by
mistake...cost me rm700 ----> happen twice....hehehehe

Any comments on the yr.2000 to 2003 models' TD4?
Does it have the same engine or gearbox mgmt.system as that of the LR F2?

Am looking for one TD4 at the moment.
thanks.

Hello then Landies,

Would like to know how is the maintenance and reliability of the Land Rover Freelander 2005?
The market price is pretty attractive now for used units for both 2.5 V6 and TD4 versions.

Which model to get? The V6 which has better interior fittings or the TD4 because its a diesel.

I have a lot of review in the webs and unfortunately most of them are quite negatives.

I am hoping that such issues of reliability and high cost of maintenance does not apply here (because its better built for..).

Any one care to dispute or support what's mentioned in the internet.

I am seriously thinking of getting a Freelander.

thanks.

Land Rover have a reputation for being unreliable. I'd imagine that parts in Malaysia would be expensive too. They are great vehicles but they will face the same problems that any of the smaller car brands face in Malaysia.

The Freelander only has a 4 star Euro NCAP rating too.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, just helping you to go into this with your eyes open.
