Im driving a CBU CRV 1996 registered in FY 2001. Its almost eight years
old and theres no problem whatsoever still runs like new. Driving on
highway is great but a little noisy possibly due to the air-press (as
mentioned by one of the forumers).

Overtaking on straight road is a breeze provided you can stand the
screaming sound when the gear kickdown (can be quite loud). It can be a
pain in the neck on hilly stretch though as overtaking can be quite
tricky. The gears tends to hunt for the correct ratio which gives you the
feeling of uncertainty. Not as confident as when you drive a ford ranger.

Rides is comfortable, great when taking corners (the four whell drive
system kicks in when the rear tyres slips, which gives the SUV an added
traction. Its very spacious (you can walk through from the front seat to
the back with ease as there is no hump in between the driver and
passenger seats while the gear is mounted next to the steering.

Overall IMHO its a great reliable SUV, as long as you dont commute to
Genting on daily basis that is.

Just my 2 cent opinion

Don't think Ford Escape is as refined as CRV. Anyway, can't compare a 2.0
litre car with 2.3 litre car. Heard in 2005 will have 2.4 litre CRV. Now
that would be a fair comparison.

christkl,
..."can't compare a 2.0 litre car with 2.3 litre car"... BUT Escape 2.3L is
cheaper & offer more premium package than CRV. Best value for money..

But the 2.3 Escape is Cheaper then the 2.0 CRV....AND comes with sunroof,
leather and 4 airbags which the CRV doesnt have..why cant compare?

sure. value for money wise may be true, but resale value n engine
refinement goes to the CRV. Anyway, all this talk very subjective depends
on the person.

When I bought my CRV, I had the choice of 2.5 litre X-trail but didn't
like the build quality, engine a little coarse and noise intrudes into
cockpit.

cheers

Honda is putting a real full time 4wd into the CRV in the Japan domestic
market to counter the record low sales(something like 600 per month only)
last year.
wonder if it will be offered in M'sia.
