any idea what is the lifespan of the filter? r u mentioning the diesel
fuel filter or partical filter at exhaust?

i got a doc has been using dmw 530d, 525d and a coming X5 3.0d. he just
love it and very reliable according to him.

once tested a good diesel car, normally will stick to diesel due to its
efficientcy and torque.

320nm really makes me drool! I have used Mazda figther before (the 1st gen
one with 280nm) and YES, diesel engine can really climb!!! Thats why I am
very tempted by 320nm and from a low of 2000RPM!!! Boy, can't wait to
smoke those car going up genting

i hv test drove the diesel captiva last week while enquiring about the
service centre that is yet to open. I find the 2.0 diesel a bit lethargic
a low rev, somewhat like turbo lag.

To be honest, the new ranger VGT turbo is a smoother and quieter.
The handling is a only average for an SUV, tried the abs, tcs and esp on
the sandy area.

But for the price and r/tax, I thinks it is a worthwhile consideration.
The other competitive is Santa Fe as mentioned which has a better review
in autocar dec edition.

armereth, dun think u can smoke the optra 1.8 going up to genting though,
the handling make up for its lack of torque.

Hi

Lethargic?? must test drive then. price wise, I think it is too expensive
RM120k - Rm130k is more like it. At Rm160K, I am comparing it with a Mits
Grandis which is Japan CBU and 5 years waranty!! Road tax is OK. 2.0
diesel is manageable.

Ha ha, you are right. Don't think can smoke many cars. Maybe other SUV
perhaps.

i was trying to convince my friend who is about to book the
grandis to look at the captiva instead. i think in terms of value, the
captiva is more tempting considering the specs where the grandis is
nowhere near the captiva. There is nothing special about the cbu from
japan, it doesn't even have traction control, beside the petrol grandis
drinks more than the already damn thristy optra 1.8

I do agree with you in terms of pricing, a sub 125k full specs would be
just nice considering there is no total free services and 3 yrs warranty.

I comparing the captiva vs optra to genting, not other cars

Where does one could buy C CAPTIVA? Went to Hicom Chevrolet Showroom but
they said it not under theirs distribution, yet. It is under new
management @ company - directly under ownership of GM.
The 'whatareyounext' website, only mentioned about 3 places only. If only
could buy from these 3 places, teruk la, how people in elsewhere to buy,
like myself here in easy coast, what more to service after that,
everytime need to go to Klang Valley is it? Or is there plan to expand
theirs distribution and services center thru out the country?

Hi

I test drove the diesel unit yesterday. I think it is more comfortable
compare to Fortuner which I am also considering. However the engine noise
is too loud for my liking. Not sure it is because its diesel engine or
what. The mileage is about 3700Km only.

Anyway, overall, I love it. The electronics is abundance. The only problem
is being the price. No discount whatsoever. So any salesman out there who
can give me a discount please place the contact details here. I will call
you.

Thanks
Arms

Dad127,
Perhaps you can call this number 03 7960 8166 to find out whether do they
have it in you area.

Cheers

Fren, don't get too excited. As impressive as the figures may be just do
a simple power to weight ratio and you'll get a better picture. Further,
the road up to GH is not just about outright torque, it's about handling
too.

Now don't flame me. Just a friendly advice so you won't be dissapointed
the next time you challenged an unassuming sedan up the GH with your
Captiva.Big Smile

True true..... handling is one damn important factor. Found it out the
hard way. Twice and in genting some more!!!

Anyway, I am still waiting for feedback regardng the suitablity of our
diesel on Euro4 engine. Got a fren of my running a Chevy service center.
He is asking me to hold on to see if there is any prob. Still waiting....

Cheers
