cud he be earning? RM5k tops and driving a RM100+k car? "
Kcfu, no offence but i think you may need to meet more people. It's not
unusual to find the typical MNC paying about 8k for 27 year olds and 4 -
5k for 25. On top of that, there's also such a thing as access to
parents' excess income. So I think it's no big deal nowadays.
Anyhow, i agree with you. 27 year old shouldn't be driving an Accord.
That's like so uncle. Should get something more exciting, like a 2nd hand
3 series perhaps, or S40 T4.

I dispute your statement.
Fresh graduates coming out of unis at 22-23 start off with an average of
RM1500-RM2000 for most jobs out there.
I co-run a company and there is no way any company (incuding MNCs) that I
personally know or have heard of will pay RM5,000 per month to a 25-year
old with 2-3 years of experience and RM8,000 for a 27 year old unless that
person is truly exceptional and how many are like that? - the only ones
who will fork out that kind of cash are the premier consulting companies
like Boston and McKinsey and how many chaps do they hire anyway?

B_ _ and Mc_ _ _ _ not only pays 8k but in fact > 10k for a masters grad
i.e. 24 years old. It`s true.
O&G firms do pay that kind of money. S_ _ _ _ _ ger pays 5 to 10k or, >
10k if you get sent far. Also true.
I don`t know, unless I have been fooled I`ll just have to take the above
figures as the truth. Perhaps you can verify it if you ever get the
opportunity?
I understand that you are disputing the facts I presented about the pay
packages, but if I may add, it doesn`t matter "how many people are like
that". The point I was trying to put across is, it just is not fair to
brand any 27 year old driving an Accord a yuppie stretching his/her
budget due to the reasons I have given in the post above, and shall
reiterate below,
1. There are 27 year olds who can genuinely afford these cars.
2. There are 27 year olds who have access to parent`s excess income.

What is wrong with getting a loan to buy a car? In the same way that you
should take a 0% installment, you should take up the loan if you can make
more money by deferring payments. Debts are not always bad all the time.

or monthly repayment should not be more than 15% of your salary, whichever
is lower ... So, by that guideline, you need to earn around RM12k to
drive a new 2.0l Accord unless you have access to other source of
income to allow you to have a lower repayment. Of course, if can buy cash,
then no limit la ...

i.e. 24 years old. It's true."
And how many of these cream de la creme consultants are in Malaysia? 50?
100?
"O&G firms do pay that kind of money. S_ _ _ _ _ ger pays 5 to 10k or, >

Again, the numbers in porportion to the mass of 25 or 27 year olds?
"I don't know, unless I have been fooled I'll just have to take the above

You have stated that it is no big deal.
Which is true - for a very SMALL minority of the 25-27 year old population
segment.
If parents' income enters the picture, then it truly is no big deal.

since you co-own a company.
I see that we are coming from different perspectives. You are saying, the
numbers in proportion to the masses. I'm saying, should not generalise.
And with regards to the pay packages, it'll be just my words against
yours. So I don't want to take it further.

Of course there are - for a tiny fraction of the 27-year-old population of
Malaysia.
"2. There are 27 year olds who have access to parent's excess income."
Rather, it is the parents' generosity towards their children.

Ok.
"Rather, it is the parents' generosity towards their children. "
Implied.
