wasn't even thinking of the Naza Blade 250 (naked variant) until i saw this
active discussion. This thread has drawn me to the bike.

coming from a Virago 535, this fella is looking for a daily commuter bike
that traverses 60km a day at 90-120kph. From what i have read here, the
Naza 250 sounds like a suitable candidate.

My old bike could only last 2 days between refuels but the Naza 17-litre
tank will allow me to go at least 4 to 5 days.

coming from a laid-back Virago easy-going style, would I be missing much
esp in torque and power delivery? How's the power-to-weight ratio like?

Two things that hold me back are the oft-quoted lousy Shinko tyres and bike
stand sensor flaw. Can't Hyosung build affordable bikes that are really
value for money without showing glaring errors in the form of tyres and a
potentially dangerous sensor problem?

If I do decide to get the black Blade, will change the rear tyre to the
Battlax BT002. Normally, if brand new swap with the shop, how much will I
end up paying for the replacement tyre?

I'm sure Hyosung/Naza knows about the nasty sensor problem on the bike
stand...why does it happen and is it because the engine is designed to run
lean and economical? Some users report that the engine suddenly dies when
the bike is moving at high speeds or overtaking, and the problem was traced
to the stand sensor. This is very dangerous.

Isn't this a simple problem for the engineers to fix instead of forcing
owners to disable it? has anyone locally found a quickfix by changing to
other brands without having to disable the sensor?

Went to Section 14, PJ, shop to check out the bike today. It feels good on
my tallish frame, and handle controls are within easy reach. The humoungous
tank gives it that faux superbike look though the cheapo Naza stickers
don't do the bike any favours. will probably strip them out and airbrush
parts of the bike for a unique look.

Have also considered the new RM20K Ninja 250R. But I prefer the styling of
the Blade.

Since both are CKD, is Naza Bikes built quality on par with Hyosung
international standards?

I am in PJ. Which shop here or in KL knows how to really service the bike
as well as the Naza boys in Shah Alam?

This will prob be a latter project, but would like to install Givi side
panniers only. Heard some shops in KL can customise brackets so that 2
panniers can fit on a bike. I know a ZZR250 owner has done it before...and
it looks fab. Anyone know which shop can do that?

Cheers. Ride safe.

Bladers Charity & Annual Ride 2008, Tanjung Balau Beach Resort, Johor

I just saw this in the superbikemalaysia.com under the bladers forum.
Impressive, they have managed to form their own tiny little empire there
with Presidents, Deputies, everything.

Anyway, they have arranged an official program which some of you here might
be interested in, more info please do not hesitate to click on the link below.

Hmmm, usually unpro would be first to shout out such big events... am I
missing something here? PM me please...

Cool

Thanks for the compliment. We're just owners telling our story. Go test out
the bike, the service centre's QoS, spares availability and make your choice.

"wasn't even thinking of the Naza Blade 250 (naked variant) until i saw

The blade gives around 28 - 30km/l depending on how much throttle you
normally use. So 1 full tank of around 13l can make 350kms between refills.
Have never been able to fill more than 13l, 17l is impossible.

"coming from a laid-back Virago easy-going style, would I be missing much
esp in torque and power delivery? How's the power-to-weight ratio like?"

The blade is a heavy bike, but there is just sufficient torque to move with
traffic. In fact, we can keep up with most kapcais and then some.

"Two things that hold me back are the oft-quoted lousy Shinko tyres and
bike stand sensor flaw. Can't Hyosung build affordable bikes that are

Both this problems are actually easily solved. It was us, the first few
users who had to take some risks and make some guesses.

"If I do decide to get the black Blade, will change the rear tyre to the
Battlax BT002. Normally, if brand new swap with the shop, how much will I
end up paying for the replacement tyre?"

Good choice. However, I cannot comment on the swap, coz I did not ask the
shops that. Maybe someone who has done it before can respond.

"I'm sure Hyosung/Naza knows about the nasty sensor problem on the bike

The stand sensor is for safety. To prevent you riding off with the stand
down. As I said, easily solved. The engine runs lean and economical due to
the size of the jets in the carby but the restrictive exhaust pervents the
engine from overheating. So, those who wants to remove the stock exhaust
for a Yoshimura will have to consider this.

Someone actually took the trouble to steal some of my 'cheapo' stickers.

"Have also considered the new RM20K Ninja 250R. But I prefer the styling of

The choice is yours! Have fun.

"Since both are CKD, is Naza Bikes built quality on par with Hyosung

Still can lar, most of the CKD kits still imported due to the low volume.

"I am in PJ. Which shop here or in KL knows how to really service the bike

I have no issues with service although I service at a normal bike dealer in
Ampang. No rocket science.

I have those installed from day 1. Lifted them from my FXR150, same size,
just some different fittings that the dealer solved. However, with the side
panniers in place, cannot 'cilok' coz the width is too high, and the wind
resistance very much higher. Top speed limited to max 120km/h.

Hi azxel,

Am fine, tks. Maybe can arrange another simple ride again sometime.

But the Bladers in Malaysia Superbike looks very active, but too
structured. I like it simple, coz I just ride as a commuter to work & have
fun along the way... Big Smile

And yes, the Blade range is 330 - 360 km per tankful since the first day.
260kms, the fuel gauge just move 1/4 way only. You getting wrong info it
seems, of maybe that feller changed his carb... more power.

PM me if anything happening then..Evil

I've been getting some maintenance problem with my bike, but fortunately
manage to source cheap solution and now my ride is a blast again. All I
need now is a good illegal road racing with a god damned mito!

Anyway, here's are the problem and solution to the bike.

1) bike FC has been very high lately, only manage to get around 200km per
full tank.

Solution
a) Clean up air filter and spark plugs. Took out the tanks and the air
filter box to get the spark plug. Bought a RM3 metal brush and brush off
all carbon until the spark plug looks brand new. Adjusted the gap so that
both are similar (followed the one with the larger gap)

For the air filter, I hose it down with a vacuum cleaner. There was an
immeadiate response to my laggy throttle once I put it back together, but
FC still remains high.

b) pumped up tyres. Was running at 22 psi. Slight improvement in FC.

c) dumped a bottle of ABRO fuel system cleaner into the tank. And wow! now
2 full tanks, 300+km at some break neck speed of 120kmph!

2) I'm lousy at maintaining my chain. End up spending almost RM100 to
build a cheap oiler (final price for oiler is only about RM15). Oiler
works, but chain is already dead, now using a no-ring chain, not sure how
long this will last but at least the bike don't sound like a sewing
machine.

3) Front tyre worn. ARRGGHH!!! How may RM I need to spend on this?
Fortunately NKS Sentul sells Maxxis tires (made in taiwan) for RM180. Tyre
rubber looks good, doesn't seems to need breaking in.

Now before someone comes in and tell you that taiwan tires are no good,
grip not good, you fall in the corners, just tell those idiots that this
is a 250cc bike that barely do 140kmph in the traffic, so you don't need
expensive tires (rear ones maxxis is only RM250+, you can actually spend
around RM450 for both front and rear. CHEAP!)

Besides, in spite of my crazy riding, I would never wear the tires rim to
rim, even on spirited ride up awana and bukit tinggi.

All in all, bike is now back in business, but last week the lighs on the
panel went out. Must be some lose wires again....damn. Will get it fixed
this weekend.

azhar, try their website.

http://www.nakasone....ut-nakasone.asp

review on the maxis tyre.

Compound is softer than shinko. Grip in the wet is lousy, just like
shinko, grip in the dry much better. Tyre does not need any break in.
Pasang and ride like a maniac.

Thread pattern is not for high speed, but 120kmph is no problem. Can climb
road curbs better than shinkos! Hopefully it will last.

the naked now comes with a small windshield and digital meter. After
market these will cost around RM1.5k. Since the selling price remains the
same, this is a bargain.

IMHO, they should put double disk brake instead of digital meter, and
standard givi windshield. The digital meter sort of messes with the retro
look of the bike.
