The problem with local hobby shop, they all have a chip on their
shoulder, both car and plane alike. Fret not, we got the internet so here
goes my solution for you.
If you are a beginner and plan to go longer in this hobby, you might as
well start with hobby grade rather than toy level.
Buy any decent 4 ch radio will suffice. GWS have some of the cheapest
one. Checkout this dealer: www.bunkyo-rc.com . The boss Alan is based in
Penang and prices are reasonable.
Buy a basic trainer, I would recommend something like the Slow Stick.
They can used cheap Nicd/Nimh batteries which are abundle locally. Once
you are up to speed, then you can use the radio for something more
advance.
All in: Plane, Radio, charger, batt, esc, motor, servo etc prolly less
than RM1k.
There are many aspect of the hobby, but I shall cover that later when you
proceed further. No point of over loading you with info and confused you.
Bottom line is you want to have fun.
At the above level, the cheapo nicd and nimh will match the performance
of lipo beside nicd/nimh is more robust and safer for beginner. Lipo will
give long flight but need to be careful on the handling.
As for site: Kota Damansara field is right next to the Sri KDU School.
Pass by the golf course (Sri Selangor) and turn left at the traffic light
next to petronas. stay on the curve road to the right and you see Sri KDU
school on your right, move on straight and you will see a blue room
factory on your right and empty field. Turn right and then turn right
again next to the blue roof factory. You should see lots of car park
along side. Usually Sat/Sun morning from 9am-11am and 4-7pm.
