A mechanic offered me an original Proton timing belt(80,000km) only for
RM80 for my Wira 1.6. Is it so cheap? I have checked from EON Glenmarie
and they sell for RM160. So is the RM80 belt imitation or the RM160 belt
over-priced?

Richard,
Can I know the Brand or part number of the timing belt? Where is the
workshop? If I remember correctly, EON's belt lasts up to 100,000km.

Cheers~!

Huh I really don't know the brand and part number. The mechanic told me
its original and can last 80,000km. But is it RM80 that cheap?

I think RM80 is just the belt alone. It has to come with the oil seal and
bearing. Pls refer to the spare parts shop at Jln Ipoh. They are selling
it at RM110 whole set and upah pasang RM70.Hope this would help.

I have been driving my wira 1.6 auto for 6+ yrs, mileage 250K never heard
before Eon or proton belt can last 100000 km.

I always go for the original mitsubishi belt and it cost me RM 130 incl.
labour and i was guaranteed at least 80 K. But for timing belt i always
"throw" when 60K. You never know when this fella snap.

Dont go for Eon belt, else you might end up getting a new engine.

my advice is that to be save get original timing belt and tensioner
bearing from PE and fix outsite...don't play with imitation part. No joke
