I've used exclusively Petronas fuel. Engine oil was changed to Castrol
Magnatec 10W-40 (can't remember the first two digit but the last digit was
surely 40) during first service (1000 km). I noticed that oil consumption
is noticeably higher (too noticeable) for city use. I know stop and go
traffic kills your fuel consumption, but Neo Campro engine takes the limit
to the farther extreme. Data below:

Mileage km Liter km/liter RM
20.10.2006 13 10.49
22.10.2006 397 384 36.622 9.90 69.95
29.10.2006 746 349 35.254 9.83 67.34
01.11.2006 1100 354 35.995 11.93 68.75
02.11.2006 1547 447 37.482 10.16 71.59
07.11.2006 1902 355 34.925 9.29 66.71
10.11.2006 2252 350 37.673 10.40 71.96
17.12.2006 2548 296 28.460 9.97 54.36
21.12.2006 2878 330 33.093 10.35 63.21
27.12.2006 3250 372 35.932 11.64 68.63
28.12.2006 3700 450 38.664 73.85

This is how I calculate:
On 28.12.2006, fill till full. 450/38.664=11.64 but I put it in the cell
above because that volume correspond to the volume used from previous
fill. Faham tak?

Mine you, I commute Miri-Bintulu (total distance to-fro 400 km) on a
weekly basis. The 11.64 km/liter was exactly that: Miri-Bintulu travel.

I want to use Syntium 5000 but I dont know if Miri Proton Edar Service
Advisor will allow this. I have good experience with Syntium 5000, the
fuel consumption for my Wira 1.5 Auto GLi drops dramatically.

Neo owners, your experience?

IF you go to Miri EON KM (kereta mewah) they will service your car by
pouring the shell semi-synthetic instead. experienced this during my
5000km service. i think the fuel consumption will be frugal once the
mileage reaches around 8500++ km. (happened to mine now). i'm not quite
berkira so much la in this fuel consuming thingy, but rather i feel much
better than the first time i got my car la. maybe the nature of campro or
what i dunno.Tongue

11.64/km is not really that bad considering the fact the Campro is not a
VVT engine. I have a 20 year old Ford 1.6 which I keep as a second car
and I get 11/km on long runs. I hope Proton considers VVT technology and
other areas to improve FC. Btw what FC are you getting on city driving.

i think 11.64km per litre is a pretty decent figure already. if your car is
still new, your fuel economy should improve as the engine and gearbox
loosens up fully.

btw, what sort of speeds do you drive at during your commute? and roads?

City driving= 9-10 km/liter (or 9.0~9.5 liter/100 km as per onboard
computer).

During commute I try to maintain a constant speed of 120 km/hr maximum
(rarely touches 130, the engine becomes quite loud above 130).

Safe to say my average speed is 100 km/hr, considering have to slow down
at road bumps (many along Bintulu-Miri Coastal Road) and before taking
over slower vehicles.

I remember my old Satria (1.3 GLi manual) will get 13 km/liter for long
drives with speed of 110 km/hr.

hi,
maybe your car is still new. let the engine bed-in first. what is the
figure stated in the owners manual? maybe because of the weight of the car?
calculate the power-to-weight ratio of the old satria. what is the neo's
kerb weight?

The fuel consumption is very bad for speed above 110 km/hr.
