My 1997 Putra could go up to 215km/h on a free 15km strech to KLIA.
Is that an accurate figure ? Or is the speedometer miscaliberated ?
I am using 15in rims with the same overall dimensions as the original
14in.

I had a minor accident last month and now the car doesn't go more that
190km/h. The sound of the car is also different. Could the workshop have
cannibalised parts like the ecu ?

Short answer is NO.

Long-@ss answer... I havent seen any quartz like speedometer except on
Jag 220 and McF1. BMW marked up their speedo by 5-10mph, TVR is the worst
jacking it up by almost 25%(that means if the analog speedo shows 220 the
digital shows 190 it's actually doing 178mph on the GPS read out.) Merc
bumps em up by 5mph and Proton i really didnt know but i think around
10km/h. MOst of the speedo are basically accurate untill 150km/h after
that they mysteriously go bananas. Maybe a built in safety protocol in
order to discourage drivers from going above and beyond (and ultimately
highway to hell/heaven whichever god prefer).

Isn't it illegal for car manufacturers to deliberately install an
inaccurate speedometer ?

Is there a way to know what kind of ECU my car is using ? I know that the
display for Mit ECU is - check engine and Bosh is an icon. I don't think
they would have 'sapu-ed' my display also.

My car was in the workshop for 2 weeks.
