Is there a bolt-on turbo kit for the SGTi ?
If yes, how much would it cost ?
Will it be able to take on a GSR ?

Hi ya there,
i'm drivin a putra 97 (M) & am having it modded to a GSR
turbo. My suggestion is not to get the bolt on kit. VERRRY
DAAAANNNGEROUSSS! Turbo charged engine run on low compression pistons n
vice versa for N/A. The kit is able 2 generate higher boost (the kit's
stdrd boost is 0.4 bar), but u'll 4 sure blow ur pistons, U'll have 2
change the engine again. Best to get a GSR 1/2 cut abt 4.5K with all the
goodies inside. Bolt on kits (2nd hand) is abt 5.5K which is already used
this dunno whether all the components r still workin (wastegate, turbine
blades, i/cooler fins).
If u r serious abt modding ur car, then opt 4 a GSR 1/2 cut.
Its safer, more cost effective plus the benefits of reliable engine n
parts frm JApan.
Just my 2 cents worth

Hi there.... if we were to put in the 1.8 GSR engine into SGTI/Putra/Wira
1.8 ... issit that the engine mountings all no need to modify at all ar ?
Cause the 1.8 Proton engines are the same as the GSR engine mar... just
lack the turbo right ?

Changing standard Proton engine to Japanese Turbo engine? Here is the
issues you will encounter :
1.) 4.5K for engine.
2.) 1.5K for labour.
3.) 2K for essential parts (clutch, oil, belts, seals, gasket, etc)
4.) 1K upgrade suspension.
5.) JPJ inspection fee or runner fee if u malas to go do yourself.
Total about 9~10K.
When you sell your car, this 9~10K spent is considred burn liao. Don
belive ah? Try imagining this :
Used car dealer (UCD) : WAH!?! U LAYSING KAKI AH? WAT CAR THIS AH?
Proton turbo (PT) : Its 94' 1.6 Satria with GSR Turbo engine.
UCD : AH?!? SATLIA JI-AS WAT AH?!? U DO YOUR CAR UNTIL LIKE THIS WHO WAN
TO BUY?!
PT : *...... aiyah? My hobby mar. The car is in tip top condition, acciden
fr....
UCD : HELLO FREN!! YOUR CAR 94 SATRIA AH? ONLY RM22K,
PT : RM22K? My car is Turbo charged with APexi SAFC, boost met....
UCD : I DON'T CARE EVEN IF U PUT BOEING ENGINE INSIDE OR WAT AH. SUMORE
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL COME MY SHOP LOOKING FOR CAR LIKE YOURS? U THINK
UNCLE OR AUNTIE WILL BUY A CAR LIKE THIS AH? I BUY YOUR CAR ALSO I WORRY
HOW LONG I HAVE TO KEEP HERE BEFORE SOMEONE WILL BUY LEH.
PT : But I bought my car last year from u at RM26K, and I already spent 9K
to change engine and things. At least RM33K, RM22K too low la boss
UCD : RM33K?!? CHI SIN AH?!? AIYO!! U go find a kaki and sell yourself
better lar.
